pls need some advise for my toilet wall colouring
Comments (18)So about that toilet! It is a kit bashed piece. The bowl is old, most likely twenties, the tank new...and the connection to the plumbing is scary! Salvage pieces are available to match the age of your home...but a low flow modern toilet in a style you like would be better? Another issue I see is the strange stand off concrete or mortar bed that elevates the toilet. I suspect that there was a raised floor of some kind in the WC, that the sewer pipe is above the line of the existing floor and needs to be reworked for a new toilet. While he is doing that the plumber can re-route the toilet water supply to the proper place for the toilet you select. Best of luck! Hope your landlord will approve of the change!...See MoreSold my living room suite, now what do I do?!
Comments (6)Hi Rumkini, Thanks for that. I’m not sure you picked up on all the doorways and walkways?, so I've put red arrows on the crucial well worn routes, one being the Kitchen, and the other the main entrance/central walkway. I thought about an “L” arrangement, but as you say, you cant recline onto each-other, it creates “premium/preferred seating”, and less routes to get around. I’ve looked at your plan, and by moving the tv facing couch much further back, may work, but only with slim or no end tables as I think the coffee table would end up too far away, and it really restricts the main walkthrough. I’m looking to level the playing field on the seating options and certainly in favour of the idea that everyone will have the same view, not fighting over “the” TV junky spot (or rather Elite Dangerous on the Xbox spot when it comes to my 13 year old along with wires, laptop controllers...sufficed to say I'm moving the boy OUT of the living area). Re, view of the tv, the further away you are is the better view, it’s a compromise, optimum viewing vs facing eachother, but to be honest, I don’t think many ever sit on the end of a sofa with a comfy arm rest in a regimented position. The odd thing is, being a curved tv helps me out a bit, genuinely, with the angles. The Dining table is a 6 seater 1800x900, and I have a foldaway 900x900 catering table to extend it for Christmas. I did put it to scale on the plan, but showing it all out on this next picture, and I’m not concerned about that at all, it has space elsewhere for now. Besides, I “will” have room to put it here, but not yet. After trawling through sofa options, I find it is possible to have a true 3 seater at 205x98 rather than nearer 230x210 with reclining ends. Also, I can sell my 600x600 oversized lamp tables to opt for 200x600 slim end tables. The rug I've put in for scale is 2000x1400. With or without the smaller couches, I'm finding that perhaps the TV should actually stay right where it is after all, plus reducing glare from the window especially at this time of the year with the low sun. If I took the top picture, keeping the tv where it is, and take on board your idea that I do have the room to move them further apart/more into the dining area, I can fit something inbetween too. I red circled the couch over the corner of the window/radiator... it sets off something OCD in me. Even if the couch was to be pulled away from the wall, it restricts the main walkthrough whether it is this way or the L plan suggested....See MoreHelp with soft furnishings and accessories in living room please
Comments (20)I've just looked at your old post, wow the room has changed! Re the sofa wall, I would add scandi style art with rounded shapes just to break up the lines of the rug. I wouldn't go for curtains with the radiator personally (which I'd paint in the wall colour) but Roman blinds, I think a horizontal stripe would help with the ceiling height. I'd bring the chair in a little from the door so it doesn't visually look as if it's blocking it. A personal thing but not keen on throws over the back of chairs/sofas, just the arms. I do like your navy throw but wonder if a tasselled one would look good? Scarves are a cheaper option and normally a much better fit. Unless the table is left empty for practical purposes I might add accessories or even just a vase of stems. The only thing I'm less keen on is the gallery wall area, it seems a bit busy as you've already got the frames. I might just go for the hemnes shoe cabinet and add a large plant and then a small one in your brass pot. I think just adding books and plants will help with the accessories...See MoreInject some wow into my living room.
Comments (8)Hi Your room has nice proportions and I like the sofas. It's all a bit brown at the moment. And lacks the wow factor. I'd think about adding some colour. The cushions in particular aren't doing it for me. I'm reading a book at the moment where it advises to think about the colours you like to wear, as a starting point for decor. You could also introduce some variety of heights, possibly with a floor lamp. You have gone big with artwork which is good. Others will advise if alternative colours for the art might work better. A large rug will bring the edges of the room together more and make it more cohesive. Usually furniture looks better not placed against walls. Can you possibly do a sketch plan with measurements? This will allow people to advise on other furniture placements....See MoreSonia
