help!! kitchen layout.. can i fit an island in
Comments (49)Dear Wombatchild The two double ovens are on that back wall. The distance from them to the end of the island is 2.6 mtrs. The bank of units is mirror imaged from the centre of the ovens and that means there are two slim pull out larder cupboards on that wall. That 2.6m means that they can be pulled out and it is still no problem for traffic to be flowing past. My hob is on the island itself and the extractor comes up through the granite when in use. That far end of the island is great for taking things out of the oven and checking on food ...... turning potatoes over etc... To the left of that bank of units is a door to my boot room so I need walk way space there. This thread is quite old now and I may be repeating something I typed earlier but I love my kitchen ( think it is about six years since I had it out in) ..... The only things I would have done differently would have been not to have stainless steel sinks as they are a devil to keep looking nice! And I would like more contemporary pendant lights over the island instead of those chrome chandeliers - can change them but still working on husband on that point!!!! Comments (3)I would recommend you google perspex manufacturers as the company will have had these shelves custom made by one and any good manufacturer will be able to make them for you. Try a smaller local company I did this when I couldn't find the perfect perspex coffee table I found a local company to make if for me. Good luck...See MoreFitting all my requirements into a single side extension! Help!
Comments (20)Hello Jodie, Most welcome, I hope you saw my extension visuals too which give you a range of ideas and I like the transparency and style of the frames which lend to a feeling of open space.... The day beds are really gr8 in a room where it needs to be versatile so gr8 minds!.. The cream daybed is from ikea.. if you mean the second whiteish one with bolsters.. Something similar can be found at Loaf.. I do really like the Ikea one though as it's woven which is very nice texturally and has a really good aesthetic. and the last one which is my other favourite.. .. I think it would be rather good to have a shower element and so if not the wet room idea, you can still have something fantastic as a shower enclosure if you choose the enclosure wisely. Also you may be able to incorporate the architecture of the space in that you may be able to add a screen or something if the size fits for a walk in or other enclosed shower with single screen.. With regard to the extension you have.. you may be able to adapt it architecturally but if you like the idea of more glass then it might be better to replace altogether but of course dependent on what you choose and decide on an architectural level with the plans etc.. Budget a consideration etc.. You could though take out the existing windows and replace them with doors or bifold or sliding panels.. The arches internally are quite easy to convert to a squared off finish ie where they are situated such as the windows and doorways.. : ))...See MoreWhat size shower will fit in my bathroom
Comments (17)Going by the plan above, i'm a little confused. Clearly the sliding door faces to the wall on the right, therefore, it is the length of the shower that should be in question not the width. The sink at 900mm is far too large for the bathroom. Either, have the stud wall at one end of the shower or the other, reduce the size of the sink and have room for the toiletries. You can still fit in a 900 wide shower, it makes no odds if it's 900 or 800. It's the length that's the problem. Alternatively the last option would be to have the 800mm wide shower with the 1200mm length and have the back wall built with niches for toiletries. These will however be constantly covered in water due to the shower head needing to be attached to that wall not the glass sliding doors as in the given illustration. So, better to go for option one or two with the wall at one end or the other. Personally i like the wall at the end near the sink it gives more of an illusion of privacy....See MoreJayna Mistry
