Ground floor colour flow -- bye bye magnolia
Comments (2)Here's a house that did every room and even the exterior in Dulux chalky downs, mixing the different shades of it in different combinations in the various rooms. You could do something like this and create a tonal scheme throughout your ground floor. http://moderncountrystyle.blogspot.co.uk/2014/04/swedishfrench-style-victorian-house-tour.html...See MoreFlow from downstairs floor to upstairs
Comments (2)Hey, if you like a wood colour and want a smooth transition between floor and a carpet, I'd go with taupe.. But it also depends on the furniture you would pick (or already have). Also grey is a bit colder than taupe so I believe you need to consider if furniture and general feel of the 1st floor would be more cold modern etc or more warm cozy and soft..but it's just my opinion, I'm sure either of them will look great! ;)...See MoreAltering floor plan for better flow!
Comments (17)Not easy, such a long house. Tried to make something nice of it. Left one is just the floorplan in the measurements you gave. Middle one has slight changes to utility and hallway, making the old kitchen and snug more of a lobby, added a window and removed hallway door to let more light in, added a doorway on the right to create a garage-garden-connection. Dining will be lounge, other reception could be a spacious master bedroom with ensuite, though completely optional of course, if you have kids or work from home, there might be other/better purposes for it. Utility and toilet still in place. New kitchen with island, though far from optimal, as it is a traffic line. Dining table with very comfy chairs. Right one is similar, but master bedroom has dressing area and ensuite within the old reception. Garage-garden-connection in the same place, but now going through a utility. Old utility can be used as pantry. Kitchen layout will allow more traffic. Jonathan is somewhat right about turning the snug into utility/bootroom, toilet relocating and such, as it would allow you to open up the kitchen-family area more, thus less hallway. Then a bit of lounge/conservatory style setup could be added to the long family room....See Morelooking for renovation/floor plan ideas for awkward ground floor
Comments (12)If you made outer wall then its okay to build window on the side, your neighbor privacy will be maintained and you can get the sunlight needed, I would advise to move the garage to the front so it can be accessible for a car from the main road, you can still have direct path to the garden from the front if you move the enterance to the right and just put a fence, if it were me here's the layout i will do, it'll give more space for closet, bigger bath, utility room, and additional storage unit, so basically move the wall to the left and focus buildng that side, the previous garage will become the new master bedroom with en-suite...See MoreOpen Volume Studio
