Basin Off Centre - Mirror

The basin in my new bathroom is slightly further off centre against the wall than expected, any advice or ideas as to what shape mirror would work and where to put it would be really helpful!

You could have a tall narrow mirror (rectangular or oval) centred on the tap, and therefore narrower than the sink.
Or, you could cover the whole wall to the edge of the window cill in mirror. Perhaps built out on a slight frame to cover the boxed pipework too. This could be made to measure or you coujd do it on a budget with mirror tiles.
Either way you could divide it with a shelf or two.
Another option would be to create a mirror wall incorporating an integral cabinet, using the space you'd get building the wall out to frame the boxed pipework.

A dresser top cabinet ( same height as window top ) to the far left - approx 50mm narrower than the base cabinet below it - should make the basin feel more central - a mirror to cover that redundant electrical box too above the basin - as Sam suggested will finish it beautifully in my opinion.

Practically any sconce can be mounted over a mirror as in my first picture. The biggest trick to making it look good is to make sure the electrical junction boxes are all mounted at the exact same height and securely so they don't wiggle at all. Also, having a fixture there when mounting the boxes helps so the screw holes to mount the light don't end up in the wrong spot. I often like to throw the mounting bracket away and screw the light directly to the box if possible when mounting a light over a slick mirror.

Wow...there is a lot of chat about this sink...I see it as simple as ...change it and put the right one in....end of saga....I would not be bringing in another option of a basin in here ....the original on is causing enough commotion. As for the clear gluey stuff ...that is silicone and that comes off of the tiles without a problem but you want to make sure that the pedestal of the original basin is smaller than the new one or you could end up with it not covering the tile line that this one had.....stick with the original....then there is no cost to you ....change it and it will cost you I would think...I would also put a smaller mirror about the size of the inner mirror without the framed edge... as I said previously as I believe that it is overshadowing this basin and will look even bigger with a small basin. What I would do is to put a piece of paper up on the wall and make it the size of your mirror currently and see if you like the size and then drop the size of the paper and see which is better. Hope you get this sorted soon...it is your bathroom and you need to decide before you get even more suggestions... hope this helps

Hello yesitsjess, I think the mirror would look great on top of the bedside table! I thought maybe a nice painting would fill that empty gap above the bed nicely. Maybe like this one with the tinges of orange to match your beautiful bed sheets? Possibly you could scatter orange objects around the room like a vase on the chest of drawers to tie the room together more? Hope this helps!

Hi minipie, thank you for confirming what I felt was right in my gut :) The bathroom is a family one and is used mainly by my 3 fast growing girls , so I have to keep in mind that they will be performing their beautifying in there in a few years! Would it be totally ridiculous to move the vanity right up against the window so we have equal visual space and I have more room to put lights on either side of the mirrored fixture? I have about 30 cm on one side and 10cm on the other side of the vanity ( not nearly enough to comfortably install side lights). If I butt it against the stud wall, 30cm on both sides of the mirror and 20cm on both sides of the vanity. Hope I’m making sense?
