Modern Kitchen with an industrial twist - How?!
Comments (6)Hi Danny. It looks a great kitchen. For the worktop I'd add a copper kettle and toaster and some potted herbs in textured pots ie concrete. Perhaps also look for a vintage marble pestle and mortar. Rockett st George do the black chopping boards which could look great piled up. The bar stools are from Cox and Cox and I'd add a glass vase of faux stems at that end, there are loads around ATM. I'm not sure if you have furniture? I'd add a vintage apothecary cabinet. For the chairs I'd go for something modern like the Belleville chair rather than a tolix type chair with could be teamed with either a modern table or something with a reclaimed top. If you can I'd add an industrial style pendant light over the table perhaps with a little copper in and more stems on the table. A tan leather sofa would also work well with a similar floor light to what they have or an arc or swing arm or you can also get similar plug in wall lights. The sofa wall could be painted a darker shade. Where the mirror is I'd add a large piece of art perhaps a black and white portrait. Add some texture with a rug and cushions. I might also consider painting the doors...See MoreReclaimed Parquet - Modern Kitchen, help !!!
Comments (39)Unless you've got hours of spare time, I would avoid reclaimed parquet. I've just spent untold hours cleaning up a mix of reclaimed parquet I had in the loft (hard bitumen) and recently lifted parquet (wet bitumen) from our old extension before it was demolished. Although you can get glues that work with bitumen, you still need to ensure the blocks are relatively flat and clean. Worst thing is, although it looked like I had more than enough, some of it was unusable due to damage, so I'm now 3-4 sq metres short, and it's proving impossible to find the correct size and wood type. I didn't have a choice as the whole ground floor is herringbone parquet, so had to match it up, otherwise I'd have gone for new, it's not much different in price to reclaimed, and you don't need to clean it or sand everything level....See Morefinal bathroom design - semi industrial?
Comments (78)@Jaya Garella I wasn't 100% sure what you meant by 'the bras'? haha. none of the tiles on the mock up pic are anything I have specifically chosen - they are the least offensive on the app I had which is a house mock up program and not specifically for bathrooms. I would need a splashback with a sink unit though as that back sink/wc wall is just a wood frame at the moment so will need plasterboarding. Part of me wants to avoid the grey as although I love a rich grey, the rest of my house is off black by F&B so very dark and moody. In the tiles in a small room it might be a bit drab? I'm also struggling to find patterned tiles that I could put all over the bath wall and bath that wouldn't be too much ie too large a pattern or too small. I would then have to have maybe a wood effect (vinyl or tile) on the floor as I think pattern on the floor and bath panel and large wall might be too much? You don't see the bath wall when you walk in as the door opens to the left and hides it. Trying to find some industrial glam images of alternative options as I'm a bit stuck in a rut with it and my bathroom fitting team is a bit old school so not up on design! haha...See MoreIndustrial Dream Kitchen Transformation
Comments (7)Hi Ribena, You make a good point. However in this case the worktop is Dekton and on three of the four kitchen walls as you will see. This means hot pans or trays can be put straight onto this work surface, to the left or right of the ovens, and also behind you. The home owner absolutely loves to cook and use the kitchen to the fullest now. in the clients own word they say the kitchen is now has a... " innovative use of space, which gave us more practical storage space than the rows of units we had hitherto, plus modern appliances and gadgets galore and a lot of central, uncluttered floor space. The end product was the touch of a genius and to our mind delivered the WOW factor we were looking for. " The door finishes are Resopal Matt white and Direct Lacquer steel gloss from Ballerina.
