Bathroom sink styles - what have you opted for?
Comments (38)Our sinks were built in, but their cabinets were low and bending hurt my back. I determined the cabinets could be raised by adding a horizontal board just above the place at bottom that is indented for your toes. It added about five inches, bringing the counters up to the height of our kitchen counters. The board was stained to match the cabinet and is right under where the cabinet doors open. The line of the board is hidden by a length of wood trim. This raising up did require adding pipe to the water lines under the sinks to fill the pipe gap; moving the very large mirrors (no breaks or chips!) upward and moving the lighting above the mirrors up, as well. Comments (21)Hi, Our bathroom was very simulator this and we hated the lack of floor space. We installed a gorgeous shower across the window wall and tiled around the window to protect it from moisture. It's been great so far. Then we moved the toilet to behind the door and put in a smaller countertop sink next to it. We also had the problem of working around the airing cupboard. Taking out the bath was controversial but it hasn't bothered us yet& it's better than walking straight into the bath when you open the door like we used to. Comments (11)I'd agree with Pat that using mirrors and other reflective materials will increase the feeling of light and space in the room. I'm not sure what budget you have to play with but you can get some amazing mirrored, shiny and textured tiles that used on all walls, floor to ceiling, for high impact would give incredible mood and personality to the room. I always think you can have some fun in a cloakroom! Decorative tiles and mosaics can work out expensive even in a small cloakroom - as a cheaper alterative I'd recommend using a mother of pearl pearlescent paint which will bounce the light around and hang a collection mirrors and pictures of varying sizes for a softer, eclectic and homely feel....See Morehelp with tiling in the bathroom pretty please
Comments (33)These are the tile samples I have so far. On the left - small top dark grey, under that is a tile with faux stepped marble effect tiles that are more slate toned. Large tile to the right is the mandarin stone one (v expensive, lol) The walnut in the middle I love the pattern but it’s not as rich a colour as I wanted and I can’t find anything else online in an American walnut style tile. The bottom tile is a v v pale grey with similar pattern to the mandarin stone one. How would you work these tiles together? Walnut floor and sink unit and dark grey all over the walls? Just the patterned grey on the back of the shower wall and sink area and plain grey on other walls?? :0/...See Moreminnie101
