Bathroom tile -can you mix real and porcelain effect marble?
Comments (6)Thanks that was helpful and your Denver project looks great! We were thinking of using a herringbone 2x5" or 2"hexagon calacatta mosaic on the bathroom floor with larger format (18x30ish) porcelain marble effect tiles on the wall. Great pointer about tile depth! I actually have a question about your Denver project as we're considering to use a freestanding bath vs. inset bath in a similar layout (bath and shower sharing a wall). Not sure if I have enough space for a freestanding bath and wondered how close the freestanding bath should be offset from the walls? I might only have a couple spare inches on each short side and a bit more behind the bath for taps. Don't want it to look squeezed in!...See MoreWood Effect Porcelain tiles? Or Wood flooring?
Comments (16)This is a question i get asked all the time. We sell miles of Wood Effect Porcelain Tiles for anything from a small cloakroom floor to huge living spaces. Like someone said Porcelain is Cold to touch where as the real thing, not as much. Most of the Builds we supply it to are installing Water underfloor heating throughout the areas its being fixed to so you avoid this problem. With the phenomenal technology being used to create these tiles they are now available in Lengths of up to 1700, they are looking more and more authentic. With hundreds of factories around the globe all giving it their best shot there really are some true stunners that not only fool the eye but the touch too. The positives of Porcelain really outweigh the negatives, no warping, no swelling, no staining or scratching. We once had a customer that replaced her traditional wood with porcelain because it was so much easy to look after and she didn't need to worry about her cleaner using the wrong product and staining it. Be careful with Amtico as they are not all UV protected and can fade. Take a look at our http://www.houzz.co.uk/projects/2107824/wood-effect-tiles-dolphin-wood for just a small insight into how Porcelain effect tiles can really transform any area of the home. Has anyone had one of these?
Comments (16)ED re the screen forming the water barrier at the front, I'm trusting the builder. I didnt ask specifically for a flat tray so I presume he's fitted a lot like it and is happy with how they work. Any issues he'd have to sort it out so it's not in his interest to choose something that doesn't work. He's done a lot of work for me already and is quick to argue with me if I suggest anything unworkable. I've noticed the drain hole is huge compared to a bath, I guess to prevent water build up underfoot. I'll update once the plumbing has been done and the screen is done but it'll be a while as I'm saving for the next phase!...See MoreMalcome A
