I need help with a kitchen dilemma
Comments (2)Hi Sally, We've done many kitchens where the island is intentionally different from the rest of the kitchen, whether that means the countertop coloring or material, or the cabinet coloring. It tends to make the island stand out a bit and add some visual interest to the space. You can change materials completely and go with a wood counter or man made material (such as Silestone or Corian) or stick with natural stone and just change the coloring. I'd suggest going with something more solid in coloring, either lighter (playing off of the grey/brown coloring you have) or darker such as a speckled black. I hope this is helpful. Good luck....See MoreKitchen island dilemma
Comments (2)Hi there, Is it going to be made in brick? Is that why it's so chunky? If so, can they not give you a steel option (which we had instead) which was a lot thinner as it's designed to take more weight? It's hard not to be annoyed, I do understand. However the images bg attached show that you can integrate them into your kitchen without too much interference, Our kitchen is only small so our pillar was just on the one side. So we built the wall out to the side of it and have a built in shelving space instead now do you don't see a pillar there at all! Perhaps think creatively about what you can do with it ie feature wine rack wall? Etc etc...See MoreKitchen dilemma!! Help please xx
Comments (3)Well, if I had a metal fabrication business, I'd do stainless steel countertops. They are hygienic, practical, look great, and bounce the light around. Or, as OnePlan suggested, you could do something different with the island - stainless steel and different colour units? As someone who used to have a really dark kitchen and hated it, I wouldn't put in dark floors if you are keeping the dark countertops as it'll suck all the light out of the room. Wood floors or a tile with a bit of warm colour in it would be great. And as for the wall colour, there are a couple of bold greens in the pictures below that would be fab or you could go for something more neutral, like an off white or grey, that'll help with the light in there. Good luck!...See MoreLighting dilemma, two ceiling heights over kitchen island
Comments (1)Perhaps move the island to the left, so the distance between island and tall units on the left side is about 100 cm and then put something like this over it? You could possibly do that too without moving the island:...See MoreJonathan
