Planning alcove cabinets, but curtains will be in the way

last year

I'm thinking about getting cabinets and floating shelves put into the alcoves either side of my fireplace. However, I've just realised that the full length curtains (once they're up) for the patio doors will be in the way of one of cabinets!

Has anyone tackled the same problem? Only solutions I can think of are a) make the cabinet narrower so there's a gap between the end of the cabinet and the wall and have a bookcase on top rather than floating shelves or b) make the cabinets on both sides shallower, but I wonder if that will look odd as they'll be 5cm shallower than the chimney breast

Struggling to find photos online to help me decide! Anyone? Thanks!

(the arrow in the pic is where the picture rail ends and the curtains will fall.)
