External Crittall Style Doors
Help needed, Crittall style external doors - we are having a kitchen/diner/living open plan style extension build in jan and can't seem to decide on the style of doors! We know we want the crittall look (can't afford the real deal!) there are lots of companies around imitating with aluminium, but do we go french doors with fixed panels or sliders? We have a 5 meter opening, have any of you had these style doors and if so what style & company did you go with? Tia :-)

Economical way of creating Crittal-style doors
Comments (39)Hi Alan, we used the same doors from for our little study. After the decorator had painted them & we removed the protective film from the glass we saw that the paint had bled into the inner frame. Unfortunately there is no way to remove the glass to paint the inner frame so that section will always remain untreated & ours looks worse because of the paint bleeding. Such a shame because from afar the doors look great....just don’t inspect them too closely! When we queried it with the decorator he said the film was there to protect painting errors whereas the big shed said it was there solely to protect the glass & that the decorator had used too much paint on the brush. I definitely think you should consider bi-folding doors as an option, they look lovely in crittal style and when open create a lovely indoor/outdoor space. You can also choose colour/frame width etc to ensure they fit your style expectations.

4 years agoAlthough they seem to take up a large chunk of wall space, when open they do create a seamless exit/entrance which is lovely. I'll attach a chart that is super helpful when looking at the space you have available for potential bifolds.
We don't offer crittal style on sliders, however we do offer it on french doors.
It overall depends what sort of opening would best suit your home and what you would like it to be used for. :)
