What colour feature wall

Hi I'm not sure if I should paint my feature wall (tv wall) navy blue to match my sofa and curtians or grey to match the grey wood flooring. I will have white tv unit and coffee table.

I havent bought the white tv unit and coffee table yet and the navy blue curtians arent on yet, but this is the room. Ive just laid the floor and skirking boards need to go back on so ignore the mess.

So blue sofas, blue curtians and grey floor with white units, but wasnt sure if dark grey or navy blue would be best for the feature wall? I will be painting the rest of the walls white.

If you want to create a feature wall, I would use wallpaper for most impact. I think paint wouldn't be enough. I'd paint the whole space in soft light grey as a base - e.g. Valspar Whisper Soft or F&B Blackened and put bolder wallpaper on the feature wall with a hint of purple from your curtains. It can be a pattern or plain textured. If you want to use paint on the feature wall, inject a contrasting strong colour (such as ochre) to the space to balance the scheme out and make it more dynamic. You can flow that colour on cushions, art and accessories. Tell the story through the colour scheme.

Hi Emma. Love the colour of your curtains and you chose a great wall to create feature wall. Although, I wouldn't go for any colour you picked on a wall. Feature wall is meant to give WOW factor. The colours you picked only will blend in the plum colour in this area and that's what I call "to play safe" and there will be no feature wall, just nice matching colour. I will suggest two options #1 To keep place bright and more feminine Cinder rose from F&B OR go for rich tone as a colour of your cushion, will look stunning indeed!! Personally I'd go for this one Rich Teal, Dulux. It works very well with Plum!

If you are willing to keep magnolia, I'd go for a bold graphite sort of grey colour as a feature which could act as a backdrop for the colourful sofas. Grey is very versatile and works well with many coloured sofas. Alternatives if you are looking to paint all the walls and get rid of the magnolia - paint all walls a light-mid grey. This works well with the existing orange couch and would also work well with a green or yellow couch - paint all the walls in a soft grey bar the feature wall which could be painted a Dark Teal or blue. This would be create a nice backdrop for the orange sofas and green sofas if you choose to go for green.

Thank you for your comments..I'd love to brighten it with a rug but alas oo many dogs and we live in the country so its always muddy in the winter... im really tempted to go all mushroom..Thanks again

I'd go for grey and then add some splashes of navy (vase, lamp, candles, whatever) on the white unit. Then add some feature artwork on the walls with accent blues.

I like a navy feature wall and have one in my kitchen. Navy is a much cosier colour than grey and marries well with other colours. Mustard yellow goes well with navy and a nice colour for cushions etc, as does teal and pink. Add a bit of brass (tables, lighting) to create warmth. Here’s some examples

@James Gordon, interesting dilema. You could extend the room by painiting it greyish, or pink like Peignoir.
