Just getting to grips with house after 1 year of purchase. The kitchen is driving me mad- it was originally 2 long rooms and knocked through to a kitchen/ diner by previous owner. The layout is not good with a u shape using up 3 walls and long walks between appliances. worst of all the workspace is all along the walls too so if preparing food other people have to interrupt to get utensils ingredients etc. Massive waste of space. Strangely doesn't seem room for an island either. I don't have much of a budget as doing other work on the house. Afraid of making minor alterations which would make it even worse.
