Comments (17)Yes to the painting, but you can be very creative, as your panels for both the sides and the door run horizontal, paint two colours, one on every other panel - bit of a faff, but a fantastic effect - and be bold - it is only a shed, and it is only paint. Not sure about the flowers as they need constant maintenance but a couple of tall pots with tall shrubs (you have one but the plant is too small). Also make the patio in front a feature by placing rust proof table and chairs. Also block off the side of the shed which has become a bit of an eye sore....See MoreNarrow area in front of shed.!
Comments (10)id do this; make the trough into a bench and put some outdoor cushions on it, paint the neighbouring extension a light colour, get someone to make a wall hung 'table' that drops flat to the wall on the side of the house (useful for those coffee mornings) that is painted the same colour-above the 'table' put up a trellis also painted the same colour-there are some great hanging planters that could be hung here and you wouldn't have to stick to filling them with only plants. we have a narrow path similar to this-wasted space is what I call it-and thought of putting a shed within its confines. after seeing your picture its made me decide to do something similar. cheers, thanks for putting on the picture and making a light bulb go on in my head.x...See MorePainting shed this weekend - HELP!
Comments (10)I used Sadolin Superdec when I painted my shed last year. One year on and the paint work is still good however as the shed was brand new I didn’t allow for swelling and shrinking before painting and some gaps have appeared between the toungue and groove boards. No problem tho, another lick of paint should sort it out. As yours has been weathered for a year there shouldn’t be a problem. Also recently painted our fence and garden gate with Cuprinol garden shades, which is just as good but time will tell. In preference I’d go for the Superdec as they have a larger range of colours if you’re getting it mixed and the cover seems marginally better. Neither require undercoat. Not sure but I think the Dulux weathershield is aimed for windows and doors. Good luck and hope the weather is dry for you. Since I can’t resist, I’m posting my shed pic again, this was after painting it last year....See MoreHow can we make our garden outbuilding shed look more attractive?
Comments (7)Thanks for your help guys. This is a bit of an old photo so we’ve added some raised beds in the area in front of the outbuilding, we’re also going to add in a proper stone sett path next year. We‘re half way through converting part of the building into a chicken coop (we crazy) so we‘re in two minds about whether gravel will be suitable in front of the shed so we will see. I think I plan on recladding the shed with unpainted feather edge boards which will help. I’m also thinking of changing the door and windows to a light colour, perhaps white. Good point about the roofline, it’s rather close to the door so that might look silly. You've given me lots to think about, I’ll post an update soon....See MoreHelen Brown
