we've had a new floor and decorated. Wondering about painting the long wall on the left in the "De Nimes" colour too??
thoughts - will it be too much?!

Comments (4)Ohh ick! My bathroom in the French countryside looked like this when I first moved in (the Swiss taste must have travelled across the border...) Those tile tattoos are worth a punt to cover up the weird ones. notonthehighstreet.com has a big range and they say they are bathroom tested. While you wait to rip it out, I would just paint the ceilings, walls and cabinetry a combo of white and cream (a tone that matches all those tiles). The blue floor tiles might then ping and look pretty good. Lush towels and a good shower curtain (you can get two layered ones that are nice waffleweave on the outside) will help a lot. And you could take the doors off the tall cabinets either side of the sink and have folded towels, attractive decorative bits, and baskets to store the more practical stuff you need in a bathroom. As for those saloon doors....actually, the more I look at them, the funnier they are and I would keep them for a while just for a laugh. Comments (10)My tiler told me you should tile the walls first because of the possibility of dropping a tile and chipping the floor if you do it the other way around. The previous comment is right that grey is used a lot but an expensive look can be achieved with any colour as long as you choose a colour with depth. Comments (15)Oh man, I decided to brave Ikea on a Saturday and sad to say that Martin was quite uncomfortable! I mean, the seat itself was fine and nothing a nice seat cushion couldn't fix, but the back rest felt like its designed so that you'll have to sit perfectly upright to be remotely comfortable in it. I suppose its good for posture if nothing else, but not something one wants for a dining chair! The Svenbertil was a lot more comfy for about the same size, though a bit more expensive. I was thinking of perhaps a couple of smaller side tables instead of an actual coffee table. Not sure yet. I think I'll have to wait until the sofa gets delivered and I have it in the space before I can really decide. Generally not a fan of glass table surfaces as I can get a bit obsessed over fingerprints and glass just attracts them! I really liked this coffee table when I saw it in the showroom, then I saw the price tag. Yeah, visually on the plan I don't think the long table would work that well in terms of the flow of the space, and I think I'm going to stick with a round one. Surprisingly, the space seemed to be able to fit a D100+/- 5cm relatively well after I folded some towels and tape out the area. The Ikea one you pointed out seems ideal in terms of size, but being all white, seemed a tad boring... though I suppose I could have different chairs to mix it up a bit... a pair in white and a pair in oak.
