Have been looking for brass and glass shelving. Love the colors in this kitchen and I’ve been looking for glass shelving with brass. Where did they find or how did they make this one?

Hi Patty, This piece is bespoke made and fitted. The brackets are bought from somewhere, so might be able to locate them for you if interested.

I absolutely love the look of shelves in a kitchen - they help to create a really light and simple feel to the space, and create a stage for all your favourite things. However, they do provide less storage. So if you dont have the luxury of plenty of storage, I would suggest going for wall cabinets instead, or having a mixture of the two. There is something to be said for keeping the walls open too - it can be tempting to fill every possible space, but don't be afraid of leaving space for your cabinets to breath. This might mean having a clear out, but it will make your room feel much more open. Charlie

Hey Marc, I think our entire project cost around £1k, but there was a lot of shelves and as you said, much bigger than what you're looking for. The shelves sit on the connectors, they aren not connected to the wall in any way. You need to ensure that you have a circular cutter that is large enough for the pole to slip through but not the connector. Ive attached a pic for you to see how the shelves sit. The angle grinder was needed to cut the poles to length, all though most suppliers will cut for a price if you provide them with a cutting list. However I would suggest having one to hand to do any last minute changes. I didn't know you could cut them with a tile cutter, but worth a shot. Issues, we live in a victorian house without a single straight wall. We also have very few joists in the walls, so we had to be creative. We used the base of the poles and created a straight line with them, and cut down the backs of the shelves so touch the wall. Much easier that way. I attached them to both the floor and the wall. We attached the base plates with Stixall glue which is stronger than anything I have ever encountered. We have a tiled floor so were unable to bolt in. And then screwed it into the wall as well. Its beyond solid!

We hire a real tree from heelys farm that comes back ever year heres the note we leave on it , Just to let you know my name is no longer 27 but it’s Ropey. I have been staying with Philip and Micheala Yelland of Machon Bank. Thank you so much everyone for all the comments and ideas! I am definitely swaying towards tiles now or the opaque glass in same colour as wall. Very helpful to see other ideas too with some different style Splashbacks etc. Thanks for taking time to show a design on my photo that’s really helpful. I see what you mean about the shelves needing to be quite small on right hand side of hob. I was thinking of 1 or 2 small ones on that side and longer ones on other side. But yes other option is to have something more decorative on right hand side... but we already have a big brass/black antique style clock for the opposite wall which is a dark grey (see extra pic- but clock not up yet!).
