Cost for rendering

Can anyone give me an estimate of how much rendering costs on blockwork for a new build please ? Its a bungalow. I was hoping to get the coloured rendering which does not need painting. Thanks.

Hi Louise. In the end we merely added new windows and a new door. We went for a mixture of Sapele and aluminium to break up the width of the house. The windows are made by Smart and are the Alitherm Heritage 47 range which are supposed to a close match to Critall. We also converted our garage and matched the windows and use of Sapele frame as well as having a bespoke Sapele gate. We're still not convinced we made the right choice by adding two sapele windows - but we always have the option to add aluminium ones to replace them and they are not too costly. So - it's not 100% what we wanted, but for the budget we had we are very pleased. The garage conversion is very cool inside with bespoke ply shelves/desk and seating area as well as ply walls. It is a homage to Corbusier and his Cabana in South of France :)

As far as the driveway is concerned you appear to have a sound concrete surface there already. If you can find a good local contractor who is properly trained in Resin Bonded Gravel then you could give you price to change the finish your driveway without digging it up at all. That would avoid a lot of cost and wastage so it is likely to be cost effective. The edging and any areas which are not would need to be considered carefully. A contractor may want to drill out core samples to check the thickness of the drive but it has been used for some time and not cracked then it should be fine. Resin Bonded Gravel is stuck onto the existing surface which will need to be clean and dry at the time. Check that any contractor has been trained and is properly insured.

External insulated render costs are sky high

I'm not familiar with the details of insulated render and costs. Seems a lot, does it include a lot of scaffold? (still only up to 5 ish grand tbh I'd have thought). Seems obvious, but got many quotes? I had one company quite 25k for roof work and I've got a different company about to complete the job (they seem good so far!) for 15k. Avoiding larger companies who are vat registered is always a good way to save, 20‰ when you're talking a 20k job is significant!
