I need help in decorating my lounge.

I am looking for inspiration around colour.

I need inspiration for dressing the window.

I am keeping the furniture and flooring.

Can change the rug and soft furnishings.

Lounge is 7m x 6m. Ceiling height is 2.75mThe room has three doors.

Walls currently cotton white

Chimney breast is wood effect wallpaper

Hi kinchif01, once you remove the cushions and rug your left with quite a neutral colour palette. What kind of feel are you looking to have in the room? A bit luxurious? Calming? Or bright and cheerful? Something a bit quirkier? I think the colour will depend on how you want it to feel.

I like the Scandinavian look. I also like a luxurious look. I used to be able to make decisions at one time! 🥺

Im having a new kitchen fitted, which is a ‘concrete‘ style door in a very light grey./white.

The kitchen floor will be a very soft grey pattern.

Hi. I think it's a good idea. Is the tv in the conservatory staying? If it is I'd maybe consider a 3 seater on the back wall with a small 2 seater/love seat in front of the patio door. If not consider a screen to block the tv. I'd have a coffee table in front of the sofa to bring furniture into the middle of the room. Alternatively could the tv go in the right recess and have a small woodburner installed in the fireplace?

You may want to reconsider keeping curtains as well as the shutters, as they don't keep out all the light, particularly as you said the room is bright & south facing. Especially in the summertime when it gets lighter so much earlier. From someone who's been awake since 5am because of this problem! Note to self: must get round to choosing curtains! Also, F&B cornforth white is very pale. We've used it on the interior of our windows, but I think it would be a little boring if we used it on the walls, too close to white, especially in a room as bright as yours. A friend with very good taste recommended Little Greene's French Greys. It's a lovely warm grey & there are several different tones. Don't be scared of even the darkest one as even that isn't too strong on the walls! Our master bedroom used to be at the south facing front of a 30's house too, but after rebuilding we're now at the back of the house. Although I love looking out over the garden, I do miss that glorious sunshine you get! (Although not at 5 in the morning!). Have fun deciding, and remember you can always repaint if you really hate anything!

Perhaps a colour scheme similar to this image. Natural influences - white, tan and cream cushions. If you want it more luxurious perhaps change the black accents to brass/gold. You could put sheer curtains up unless you want a bit more privacy, then perhaps linen style. I hope this helps.

Putting up a picture rail with the wallpaper underneath..
