Need help painting MDF bedroom wardrobes
Comments (11)We've just had new sliding sash windows put in and our bedroom ones have arched tops. The fitter routed MDF to fit around the windows and then edged in wood. I have used Leyland Trade Acrylic Primer Undercoat. Sanded down before starting and in-between coats. So far I have applied 2 coats applied with synthetic bristle brushes from Screwfix and the finish looks almost complete. I think i will apply 2 top coats of Leyland Trade Acrylic Eggshell. Both of these paints are water based so dry quickly and easy to clean the brushes afterwards. This is the first time I have painted MDF and so far I am really pleased. You must wear a mask when you sand the MDF and hoover the dust from all the surfaces before painting. Hope this helps and good luck on Monday. http://www.leylandtrade.com/products/product-detail/acrylic-primer-undercoat.aspx http://www.leylandtrade.com/products/product-detail/acrylic-eggshell.aspx...See MorePainting bedroom
Comments (6)Ah, ok that makes a little more sense now. I thought maybe the bed would run parallel with the beams with equal space either side and the mural behind the bed. Hence my idea for making a feature of the ceiling with either the mural or the beams. The stud wall sounds like the perfect place for the mural tho. As for the rest of the room I think I would paint it all one pale colour, beams included. If you still feel the need for a white ceiling then just paint the horizontal (flat) part and the beams. Reason for this is if you paint the sloping ceilings in white it can look a little choppy and not restful on the eye. Comments (15)Worked out for our room size it will likely cost us about £300 for a cheap laminate excluding underlay and fitting. Can fit most of it ourselves I guess to save money and just get our joiner to do the fiddly bits. We have about 22sqm - if I stuck with the painted floor option then what primer do you recommend ie to stop any knots from coming through. Just a standard knot block primer/sealer? Floor paint wise, any good ones that are durable or am I best having a quick drying floor paint with a top coat of polyurethane varnish on top to make it easier to wash/keep clean? White is a bit of a pain. Carpet does sound so easy and the fastest option but I hate browns and creams and bore d of pale grey so no idea what colour would work with every colour scheme. We also have allergies so worry about carpet being a dust attractor :/...See MoreSuzie Elle
