Removing Grout from Floor Tiles

Our kitchen has Amtico floor tiles which after 25 years, still look good except for the grouting which is worn/crumbly in certain areas. Thinking of using an electric grout remover - which would be the best brands/type to use? For the re-grouting, what's it the best type of floor grout to use for floors with Amtico tiles? Thanks

Thanks again for all your comments. Particularly helpful to be alerted to socket issue. I took these pics before the builder replaced the sockets with some nice chrome ones. (see new pics) However, he's still got them in the wrong place. Will raise that today. He hasn't actually finished the hood area in these pictures - as I stopped him. But also the chimney extractor doesn't seem to be functioning so it needs to come down anyway. This solves this problem and we can tile behind it - although I'm still worried that he's not going to be able to redo the job well enough. I've added some more pics with better light. Still finishing the floor and just have to adjust and tweak a few things but (apart from tiling) nearly there! The kitchen is Howdens Burford Grey, Pure White Quartz from Master Quartz (not been impressed with this as marking so easily with pans, belt buckles, any kind of grime - but probably shouldn't have chosen white! - anyone else had problems with their quartz?), Paint mainly F&B Wimborne White and Slipper Satin woodwork, engineered oak floor from Howdens.

I'd say they sound more like the remnants of tile grouting has not yet been removed fully, If you use a clean damp cloth and run it over one tile, look at the cloth if it looks creamy white still then the grout is still on the floor. This will then just be a case of cleaning and cleaning and cleaning until it's all gone, does take a while sometimes, especially in big areas. The Matt finish tiles are the worst ones to get it off, I can't tell what you have from the pics. Okay, appreciate the advice given so far. Went to the local tile shop with medium grey and sand grout samples and found that sand was a different shade to the sample in the shop. After taking newer samples out it looks to be my tiler samples had discoloured. So in the end sand was much browner than I wanted. Below is medium grey and also a lighter version (manhattan). Also size of the job. Now wondering if I should go lighter?
