Need help updating my downstairs loo/cloakroom
Comments (11)Paint the doors, change to bifold doors, etc. Coat rack IN closet not next to toilet. Paint a lovely color on toilet wall and white toilet lid. Cheap wine rack with rolled towels where coat rack is now. Artwork or shelf with pretty things above toilet. Mirror above wood mantel above sink. Could use railroad nails or something into the wood that looks industrial to hold hand towel or shelf?...See MoreHelp with tiny downstairs cloakroom
Comments (10)Thanks everyone for all the suggestions, I really appreciate it. I'm liking the idea of a mirror behind the toilet, I'm seeing a bit of a mirrored wall effect coming here. I'm also considering rehanging the door (thanks for the suggestion) so it opens into the utility. That would make a big difference. I like the idea of a cabinet under the sink (great way to hide pipes) but I've been worried it would make the space too cramped. Plus with the door opening into the room the sink and cabinet would take a lot of the space a person would use stepping in and shutting the door. Good news is it's actually a wooden doorframe there rather than the horrible metal frames we have in the rest of the house. I'm currently thinking of half tiling with either paint or paper (great idea thanks) on the top of the walls. Just not sure of colours. Flooring I'm thinking of something dark with warm undertones as that's what I'm going within the kitchen (North facing room plus cream cabinets I thought warm tones would be nicer). After that I have no idea. I've not yet found any cabinets so the world is my oyster. Lol way too much choice here....See MoreNeed help on our downstairs cloakroom
Comments (2)Hi Peter. It does look like it's time for an update. Dramatic wallpaper in the smallest room can look fabulous, and a totally different look from all those tiles. Combine with mosaic around the basin and wc for practicality. Also, if you are in a hard water area, you may want to think twice about the waterfall tap, sadly they don't take long to get affected by limescale which ruins their appearance. Have fun with it, it's the room all your guests will use, so make it a talking point. Kati...See MoreTiny toilet/ downstairs loo
Comments (14)i also meant to say there appears to be a good selection of short projection loos on the market but I had a tricky ensuite to do 18 months or so ago and found the plumber could find impossible to find things (and I search for things on the internet constantly 😂) at plumbers merchants. I think it would also make the room feel bigger if there isn’t so much contrast with the floor (and depending on whether you keep the skirting boards or not but I wouldn’t opt for white if you do as it makes the room feel smaller with the stark contrast)...See Moreclemfandan
