Comments (11)My challenges with a 19 month old Banksy wannabe are finding a paint colour scheme that I like that will stand up to crayons, chalk etc - we're stuck with the last owner's magnolia for now, just because it is easy & cheap to touch up when there's a colour attack... But also, and mostly, layout is an issue for us as it is about getting the space to work so that there's storage for toys, space for play, hazards are minimised and it looks like a grown-up space when it needs to. I'm working on it (!!!) but would welcome ideas....See MoreWorkshop challenge - how do I make a big space work and look smart
Comments (8)Hi. It's difficult to say without knowing exactly what the business requirements are. What flooring is down atm as I would go for large concrete effect tiles to minimise flooring costs? Add rugs for texture plus if you need to work on the floor? I would divide the area so you have a work area and a seating area with kitchenette. Use industriał style dividers or bookcases to split the space. Colours will need to be light for working so maybe a very pale grey or white for walls but use dark blue or charcoal velvet for a sofa with maybe a leather chair. I assume the other end of the room is the same? I would build cupboards with shelves ŵall to ceiling, deep enough to hold fabric ( I might be tempted to paint these in a charcoal though!). Maybe look at a library ladder for reaching the top shelves. I'd buy an enormous old desk in wood and leather, have a look in antique shops for the double style desks. You can buy large vintage filing cabinets for any buttons, threads etc ( there's an antique shop in long melford which sells cabinets and desks if you're close to suffolk!) Use a large pendant light in the seating area with floor lamps but maybe look at the industriał style track lighting for the working area combined with task lights for the desk. You could also add mirrors to bounce the light...See MoreHouzz challenge: What's your decluttering nemesis?
Comments (61)Hi Jen, I would leave headboard as it is without painting, I'm not sure about the round thing in the middle...the best would be a simple natural wood one with plain surface... Anyway if you decide to paint it sand it first with sandpaper and make all corners round, it will give a special personal touch. :) Make sure that it is well fixed to the bed....See MoreHouzz's Spring Clean Challenge!
Comments (40)Thank you! Move in any time, as long as you don't mind selling a few bits of furniture while you're there :D You'll be pleased to hear we have started tackling the workshop and, two days of solid reorganisation later, I am exhausted but it's looking better. I'm sure with your skills it would have been done rather more efficiently/quickly but the rain hasn't helped - every time we moved things outside to give ourselves some space, it would start again and we'd be dragging it all back in! On the plus side it helped persuade me to part with some of the damper items ;)...See MoreCecilia Gonçalves
