How to paint cane bed
Comments (80)Hello Minnie, There will be the hallway and some in the bedroom. Yes gee whizz, I prefer to design than actually do in this case. Painting I find enjoyable but papering definitely not so much. Your sons room sounds quite a difficulty so gr8 for you that you managed, and I can definitely see how you would feel a sense of achievement. I do feel quite pleased with how it all ties in. I also just used a paint brush to brush it all and no plumb line.. Normal scissors and a sense of urgency.. Yes the size was quite a dramatic feeling. It's not a small room I don't think, and it's just as it is shot wise but the dark on dark made the whole thing feel larger and more elegant. The paper is Oreste Carbon by Zoffany. Thank you yes the tapes on the frames, I do like a mix of old and new and I use my picture rails so I thought it a good way of showing. Ah the lamp .. It's broken in 3 places and held together with glue and plumbing seals.. It was from Graham and Green but over 10 years ago. Never seen anything like it since, not sure if somewhere like eBay would have something similar.. and it's rather tricky on uneven boards. I have a large marble weight that sits on its base as the counter balance doesn't really allow for anything but the most even of flooring. Got a few flowers from Oka and thank you for telling me, I did look in my emails to find code. Waiting for a payment for a day from October so should not have really. It's one of those things where you have to buy a few at a time for several months till you can achieve a really fantastic display. Yes Bob has her ways but so gorgeous I try to give her things and the door mat is a good one too but somehow... Like the sound of the book that may have to go on my list.. Love the veggie lunch.. I am down to chicken occasionally and fish regularly. will be looking for a recipe for the stained glass biscuits.. :))...See MoreLIVING ROOM NEW COLOUR
Comments (15)Hello Maria, Well there are certainly ways of addressing an issue whilst being mindful that it's someone's home! I love the parquet and you're quite right about the chesterfield. It is perfectly possibly to mix modern and traditional beautifully, but some things are more difficult to manage like the Louis X1V fireplace. If you had built out a chimney breast that would have worked really well as the grand French style needs the chimney breast to give it the width and scale. The mirror too in a darker colour could work as it's the metallic that's not gelling with the style of the mirror in this situation. Consider lowering the dado and painting it green.. I love mixing modern and old. Try moving the tv further away from the window. The other table (nest) placement would be good for the tv. Some green (darker) cushions and a throw or two would be good to compliment the walls for the sofas and chairs. One more thing.. Don't cover the floor, show it off! : ))...See MoreWin a two-night stay in London and a visit to designjunction! CLOSED

Comments (33)Been a bit busy over the last couple of weeks with work and doing a bit of wallpapering every night (who knew wallpapering an 11 foot drop was torture on an amateurs arms and shoulders!) we have finally got it done. Been doing some research too and apparently the house is Edwardian not Victorian, though lots of Victorian styles came through into the period. Edwardian is apparently 1890 to 1914 (even though Queen Victoria was still on the throne). Every day is a schoolday! Anyway, the look we have gone for is very old fashioned, opulent yet comfortable and cosy. It is not quite finished as I am going to investigate some oak mouldings to get the bookcases looking less Ikea and more country house library. It really won't be to everyone's taste and is quite different to most of the styles you see on here but we like it. :) The other bit of completely awesome news is that we won the recent Houzz/ Schneider light switches competition and a lovely lady from Schneider has come to visit to show us the switches we could have. Having not won anything like this before I am incredibly excited! They are not fitted yet but we will be sharing photos of the typical bodge we have found in the house that this will fix. In addition to how the room looked before we moved in, here is a photo of the room when we first decided to buy. And now... from the door And from the patio door And the other corner The picture on the mantel will be replaced by a big ornate gold framed mirror. We grabbed the pic from an antiques place but it turns out to be a print - darn it, Antiques Roadshow hopes dashed! lol! So, onward and upwards, the study is probably next, I am feeling the possibility of a 60s mustard and grey vibe in there!...See MoreCarolina
