What is the width and depth of the patio?

last year

The patio looks great, I'm looking at doing something similar but trying to work out space needed with enough left over for lawn.

Hi we would recommend 4m which covers a zone for the doors and a decent space for sofas etc. You could squeeze it to 3m but it might feel tight.

Not sure what your budget is, but how about a Pergola? It would look absolutely beautiful, doesn't cost a bomb to install and you could add some fast growing vines, be they flower or grape, or a mixture of both, whip the slabs up, lay a plastic membrane and then whack a couple of tons of peashingle down. To finish it off, I would remove the wall in front of the patio and replace it with some large planters containing box hedging, rosemary, or lavender. A little touch of the continent, right on your backdoor step and you won't even need to go through passport control!

Hi Ellie, You should have a lintel above the existing window already and therefore if the door is the same width as the window then you shouldn't need to replace this. You will need to consider the damp proof course of the house (depending on the age of the house) and where that sits in relation to the new opening for the door. If you are taking away bricks below the damp proof membrane then you will need to add extra under the door. You will also need to think about how the water sheds off the door cill. A good installer will be able to advise you on this. Unless you are in a listed building or a conservation area where article 4 has been applied by the council you shouldn't need planning permission for this.

@garden guru .. I’m in the North West. Don’t have a set budget really as it’s an extra cost over what we hadn’t intended to spend. We know we could go all out but we have so many more things to pay for ie we have no front wall/fencing and the garden drive gate is falling to pieces. So trying to work out the best compromise that would look nice but not be too expensive to do. Think we originally thought they would just concrete outside the doors and we would put something on it in the future, but due to the height, it wouldn’t have been possible to do that. Also they dug out soil to extend so half of it is just a clay muddy mess now. LOL

I don't have a picture at the moment. The dimension are 94 cm wide, 64 cm deep and For the height there are a few different measurements. There is a plastic fitting for the previous fridge that brings the height to 175cm, if that is taken off it is 183 cm. The 'ceiling' space ends around 30cm in so there is space so there is a huge amount of clearance past the ceiling. I just can't seem to find a fridge freezer that is good for the space. They all seem to be too tall and narrow
