color of tiled floor to go with brown colour granite worktop + island?
Comments (4)I think your eventual choice will depend on the colour you pick for the units. While creams/sand/limestone coloured doors will work nicely with your choice of granite, I still think white will go too. As to tiles, I'd probably go for a porcelain with a bit of physical texture (some "grit") and tones which mix beiges through to greys. This should pick up the mix of the granite. Alternatively, I'd look at wood effect Karndean or Palioclik (possibly Arezzo) in a Sand Oak type colour. Sample image here. Hope this gives you some ideas - and let us know what you decide! Comments (4)Hi, here are a couple of mixed countertops examples. I like your floor. See if you can take the cabinets all the way up to the ceiling. Looks better, gives more storage space (even if you can only reach it using a stepladder). The floor doesn't limit you on the cabinet colours. See if you can take door samples home and hold them on the floor (vertically, so it shows the colour as it would be when installed). Do the same with countertop samples. Put them all together and make your choice. Or post photos and ask opinions here, if you can't make a choice at all :-) A light countertop will reflect more light, make the kitchen seem brighter. You can mix that with a dark wood. I will see if I can find one of the pro houzzers to look at your dilemma, so they can give you answers to the more technical questions. No promises, but I'll try :-)...See Morefirst time renovator - how could you model this ground floor?
Comments (3)Such good ideas from the both of you, hopefully we can move that wall as it makes so much sense now you say it. The roof light locations in the kitchen need thought as we plan to put the sink on the island but would like some pendant lights above so the roof light needs to be located somewhere else I think. I’m definitely thinking of making the utility room ‘3 units’ wide just because we have so much rubbish as well as a cat etc so we may make it a utility / boot room style area. For coats etc too. And then put a big chest (or tall freezer) next to the WM and TD, do you think that would work? (In addition to a 3/4 fridge 1/4 freezer in the kitchen). And put the hob and extractor fan to the left hand side of the kitchen and fridge on the return section along the utility wall. Do you think make the WC any bigger or is it ok the width it currently is? As it stands it’s probably only about 0.75 wide.. would you suggest pinching some room from the upper WC space? Not quite sure what to do with the under stairs area , they are slightly weird in that the stairs pitch up towards the front door rather than the other way round (lead up and away from the front door). Thank you in advance!! :)...See MoreUrgent help please. Kitchen island & flooring going in tomorrow
Comments (1)you've done it basically right, whether you need the 2 internal support panels really depends on the worktop you're having as you could possibly get away with not using them. if you do use the 2 support panels, you'll have to reduce their depth so they're in line with the panels at the end, i'd also cut out a square at the bottom of the 2 support panels so the plinth can run through in one piece instead of 3 bits, i'd also make some 600-602mm strips to go between each panel at the front/top and use a pocket drill jig (google pocket drill jig) to fix so the panels are all fixed together (these would be stepped back 20mm so the door can close) and it gives you something to fix the appliances to. i'd also fit the doors before getting to far as integrated fridges are awkward doors to fit and line up as when the door opens it can catch on the panels at the side and to adjust the door you may need to adjust the legs. the final look should be all the edges of the 4 panels should be flush with the front of the 3 doors. the other thing i can see in the picture is you've put a couple of brackets to fix the end panels to the floor and you'll see them as they wont be behind the plinth. good luck...See Morearc3d
