I’ve painted the wall, should I paint the fence too

Hi, I’ve just painted the wall to brighten up the decking area but now it makes the fence panels look odd. Do you think I should paint them too so they match the wall and parasol and cushions? I don’t want to paint them and then regret it. Any advice would be really appreciated. Thank you

Don’t paint the fence it looks lovely as it is. The problem with painting fences it has to be re-painted quite often which is such a bore! Your garden is lovely 😊

I painted all my new fencing blue/black. A bit like the planter in front of your wall, it made the space look bigger! My shed and planters are light. The contrast works really well. But on the same note fences painted light can look serene and beautiful too. I would get 2 tester pots of each colour and paint a large piece of lining paper and pop them on the fence and see how they work in your light throughout the day.

I like it wood. I don’t paint my fences as it creates extra ongoing work every few years

You should always do a watered down mist coat on new plaster. We used the dulux trade matte diamond paint from a dulux mixing centre. Whilst it is brilliant for being able to wipe stuff off it I would say it had more of a sheen to it then I wanted so wouldn't recommend for ceilings. We used the trade dulux supermatte and that really lived up to its reputation, covers well and looks completely flat but won't wipe off so well but given its cheap and effective you can just touch up where needed.

Cashmere popular. Mine being fitted this week. I have chosen real wood worktop and upstand. Plain Glass splashback behind hob and oxide emerald green floor tiles. Just for something different. Walks mmm not sure……something muted. Small kitchen but bright! Ideas… don’t hate me re floor 😳

Should I paint the ceiling and wall colour the same?

I’ve had the same thinking. There is a trend with darker colours to paint the ceiling to give a cosier feel. In my bedroom I used a bright feature colour and then a creamy colour on the walls. The white ceiling, mustard and creamy paints all then met at a ceiling point so in that instance I followed the creamy colour through the ceiling so it didn’t look so boxy. Off white wall and ceilings seem to work when there is a feature colour used on the walls.

No don't paint it. It will look more mismatched all painted the same colour but having different shape and texture than it does being completely different. Also keep in mind a light colour like that will need cleaning every year and painting every few years.

It’s a little bit messy full of different colours and textures like different tones of woods on fences and floor and white wall and blue flower box and different colours of furniture that make it messy and not really good.

I wouldn't paint it either. There is a beautiful climber called Actinidia Kolomikta that has cream, white and pink leaves. I don't know if you are able to sneak one of theses in somewhere but it would look lovely and tie things together.

I'm going to buck the trend and say yes paint it. Main reason is there's a lot of wood, the deck, the small fence around deck, and the big fence. I'd want to break that up with some colour, continuity from your painted wall (which also appears to nicely match the cushion covers on the sun loungers).

paint same color as planter? Cream wouldn't look right and would be a nightmare to keep clean.

Lovely garden. I had a little garden a while back that had white painted walls and lightish grey painted fence with natural decking. The grey made the fence recess and the garden feel bigger and the white reflected light and made it feel bigger too. The planting looked amazing against both because the greens really pop against the homogenised background. So I think you should paint it too, but personally I'd find a complementary grey. Cream and grey are great together.
