Living room dilemma

I’ve painted my lounge walls Neptune shingle. We are in a newbuild house and so a blank canvas. I’m always drawn to greys. we have a black and oak media unit and grey carpet but everything else is changeable. I live Neptune/ simshilditch style. I really need to warm the room up a bit and need help with other furniture/ additional colours to warm up the room

I think that the fire place is beautiful as it is and does not need any make up!! The sideboard on the right is no so big at all and if painted with different colour than grey and distressed could become a much lighter piece with its own character. I would take the top off the left one and again shabby chick it, filling the doors with ornaments to make it more interesting. It is amazing what a transformation you can achieve with a bit of chalk paint! Hi Karen, What a fantastic statement sofa - this is going to look great in your Living room. I would suggest you keep all your walls one colour, as the impact will be from your sofas, but I’d avoid putting a darker colour behind your sofa as it may result in this statement blending into the wall colour and not having the ‘wow’ piece you are wanting. I would recommend either Potters Clay 3, which is a pale, greyed off, taupe colour, or Chalk Blush 3 which is a pale, redder toned neutral. Both of these colours have a red undertone so will sit nicely against the purple colouring in your sofa. I’ve picked out a gorgeous mirror and lamp which I think will look great in your living room (below). I’d also suggest looking out for individual statement pieces for accessories to complete your room. Hi. Is everything already ordered/bought? I might look at linen for the curtains if not to add a different texture. Does the fireplace actually exist? If it does I might have the furniture arranged at right angles to it. Have you already looked at sisal or sea grass rugs? I think the texture adds warmth. I might be tempted to add a little more colour, aubergine would work for a pattern in cushions, art etc. Do also mix up the textures for cushions, throw etc and add some pattern. I might also add brass or gold for a mirror, picture frames etc as it will look great against the olive. Plants also add life, at minimum I'd add a large potted one by the patio doors.

Hi everyone , thanks for all your comments, everything you have said is exactly what we have been thinking.... flush simple ceiling lights and a floor lamp in the corner, although we are now toying with the idea of two matching lamps on tables at either side of the bay window and maybe adding some wall ornaments or something to add detail above the lamp to balance the curtain height . Yes we were going to add some wall art between the sofa and cabinet. Yes the sofa can be moved closer to the other sofa but that works better if the tv is positioned more in the corner and because of the huge tv it had to be flat on the wall ( I would love the TV to be wall mounted but my husband is old fashioned and the tv HAD to be on a cabinet) there is more space than it looks between back of sofa and cabinet so it's not too univiting and the ottoman seems to line up where it is.
