What colour paint to match wallpaper

Hi

Wondering if anyone has any suggestions of what colour paint to go with this wallpaper?

Thought that paper would go either just on one wall, or the 2 mains ones opposite each other, whilst window and patrician

wall would be the painted.

I would go with a shade or two lighter than Cashmere. It seems like you want understated elegance in this room, and you’ve chosen a stunning wallpaper which provides a lovely texture and anchors the grey palette.

Just a guesstimate as online colour is never the same as in real-life colour, but if you are considering a match for the darker background, you could send for a paint chip of the above just to start things off. It would be very rich & cocooning in a bedroom, but probably provoke a reaction like Marmite. Love or hate! A good number of places do offer paint colour matches, but all are not what they seem. The majority when stating ‘colour matching service’, mean matching to an existing colour already in their database. If you are lucky that might be a bang-on match. Equally their nearest match might not be very close at all. Alternatively a few offer a custom colour matching service, but see if you can get a ‘draw-down‘ sample before committing yourself, so you aren’t disappointed with the result. If you are doing multiple rooms with multiple surfaces, you might think of investing in a Color Muse. (Approx £55) It measures colour attributes. So you know how light or dark the surface/material you are measuring appears, how colourful or neutral it is and to which Hue Family it belongs. From this info you can find near match paint colours (if they exist) or harmonising colours.

Thank you for all the comments! We decided against green partly as I think it would be too much of a contrast - I don’t want the room to be even more fussy - and partly because we have dark blue sofas, and I’m not a fan of blue and green. The pink is a good rich tone and matches the pink in the wallpaper well. I’ve tried to pick out three key colours for the room - pink, blue and white (or orange), plus some highlight colours - yellow, teal and orange (or white). The thinking behind this is that at the top and bottom of the walls the main colours in the wallpaper are pink, orange and white (which also makes me unsure that green would work at skirting level, while the pink might be less drastic). We already have some pink in the room (lamps, cushions) and it works. So there is a kind of method to my madness! I love the idea of floor-length curtains and was originally planning on that but they can’t be hung around the window seat. Thank you for all the help and advice - I wish I’d come on here years ago as this room has been a real headache! We love the wallpaper though and are determined to make it work. The blinds have already been ordered in the fabric shown!!!!!! - I’ll report back with a photo. If it’s a disaster I guess I can make a lot of cushions... x
