Washstand dilemma

I need a wooden butchers block or console style wash stand to put a bathroom counter top sink on. Needs to be thinner than most standard ones plus shorter, I think. (Why are so many counters 800mm high? Kids will never reach a sink on top of that, nor will some of my more petite friends.) Need it 800-900Lx 400D X 720ish high. Needs space under for your feet and shelves rather than doors so knees can go in...basically, I want the men of the house to lean up as close as possible to the sink to reduce shaving mess all over the place. Have already been stung by a poor quality joiner making one that is dreadful quality and I now have to chase him through the courts for a refund. Guaranteed quality (Burbidge, Parker & Howley) seems to be about £1000+ just for the unit, minus sink, tap etc. Gahhh. Is there a happy medium? £500 for something to my size/spec? In an ideal world, it would be with a stone top so splashing is less of an issue (although I get that would cost more). Not keen to adapt a regular piece of furniture as it needs to be good for a very wet bathroom (although it is not a wetroom...just lots of steam and splashing). Thanks for advice about brands to try and how to get thinner, shorter versions.

Oh I am completely green with envy! To buy a beautiful house and score all that gorgeous furniture - how fabulous! I haven't read all the posts but agree that to paint most of these pieces would be a crying shame. I also agree with having a few antique dealers look at your furniture and assess it's value; then sell the pieces you're not so fond of & enjoy those pieces you love.. At the risk of causing upset to anyone, the only pieces I'd consider painting would be those that are damaged beyond restoration but could still be usable &/or functional.... My head is still spinning at all that fab furniture - IF you could find it in Australia you'd be paying $$$$$$!

Hi Sian, Lusso stone have a new vanity unit available at the end of the month, it will be steel framed with a choice of either matt white or black units. Sizes range from 600mm to 1200mm, here are a few images. The first 2 images provided were the concept images from the early stages of the production. From our experience, we have seen that using soft colours in the bathroom across the tiling keeps a consistent feel to it throughout the year. Practically, this makes it a lot more accessible, aesthetically consistent, and maintains the user experience (yes i know its a bathroom). Using central points such as a washstand with contrasting colours and textures provides a perfect way to direct users to key engagement areas of the bathroom.
