Comments (9)Is the roof glass like shown on the images? If so, before you do your kitchen here, I would try and talk to someone who has done this. I have a client I am currently working with for their layout. They came to use because the previous owners did exactly what you are suggesting and it was unbearable to be in there in the hotter months/days. The owners did the work then sold it because they didn't like it in the end, and the new owners are now paying me to rip it out and put it back in the existing covered part of the house with the dining room in the glass area, with storage and play area. It's definitely worth looking at before you go ahead with something so major and costly. I think as @Jonathan suggested, I would try and open the space up further, even if it means waiting a little longer for it :) ...best to get it right the first time. Comments (2)Hello there - how exciting for you. This will look lovely! Ok so I suspect you will already have thought this through but have you considered adding units to the other side of the kitchen and then once the wall is removed you can have seating down to the left by the bi-folds and a table to the right. If room is tight then you could use banquette seating for the 'wall side' of the table. There are all sorts of ways of incorporating the seating/cabinetry along that wall too that could make a real feature of it! Alternatively you run the table off a short return where the existing sink is: Or finally you keep the kitchen layout as is but back a built in bench/table to the right hand side and add a sofa to the left hand side of the room. I hope that helps? I love a layout conundrum! Also another tip (which I am sure you have tried) but grab some masking tape and tape it all out on the floor to see what works for you best!. Comments (12)Some thoughts - Although there is not much that can be done with the length of the room I am noting that the decor/display items in the room are very low and hugging the walls, which probably is accentuating the length. A shelf display unit or bookcase next to the radiator or under one of the sconces, that is taller would enable displays, but not crowd the floor. Color wise it could be a white or light grey. A floating shelf or two would provide display areas, if you didn’t want to locate a unit. If you would like to achieve a warmer room, then swapping out the mirrored cabinet and display stands will remove a reflective and cool element. As the fireplace has decor items in front, I take it that it isn’t used for heat so maybe a midsize ottoman in front would break up the length of the room. It could be in purple to bring in the purple throws, or cream, or another color drawn from the wallpaper. Another trick might be to place warmer globes in the sconces, so there is a warmer ambient light....See Morearc3d
