Frog tape peeling off paint
Hello
I am losing my mind here. I am joining two different colours and have painted 2 coats (now 4 coats...) of grey Little Greene with an overlap where I want to put the neighbouring colour of blue. 2 weeks after painting the grey I masked the join using Frog tape, painted the blue, removed tape immediately and voila all my grey paint peeled away leaving bare plaster exposed. I sanded it all back and gave it another 2 coats, used the Frog tape again but this time used a hair dryer to soften the tape glue but again it PEELED OFF THE PAINT.
I have been without a living room for 6 months now and this is the last job before we can move into it. Does anyone please know a way to join 2 colours of paint without tape?

Bathroom paint to go with tiles
Comments (23)Hi the bathroom is taking shape, we have a working shower cubicle and the walls/floor are nearly tiled. However, when knocking down walls to create 2 bedrooms the builder masking taped the doors and upon removal has peeled off the gloss in sections. He is taking no responsibility because he said the decorator used one coat Dulux without scoring the doors. Do you agree he is not responsible? We had not planned to paint these doors. Comments (14)Hi Alexi It is like a sealant you use it in a sealant gun. I used the yellow frogtape to mask up, then used the 'sealant' after I had finished. Take the tape off as soon as you've done. The only mistake I made was using a stain on the stairs that took 24 hours to dry which meant I could only do every other stair as bathroom is upstairs!. Comments (9)We did a similar thing in a living room. There is a trick; paint the base colour, once dried (days not hours) test the base with masking tape (Frog tape is less likely to peel surface paint) to make sure it wont come off when you peel the tape. Then apply the tape using a spirit level for accuracy. One applied, paint over the edges again with the base colour- this way the base colour is the paint that bleeds under the tape and creates a seal. Once dried you can paint the colour of the stripe. 3 years agoI have this problem too! So frustrating! Brand new plastered walls, mist coated 50/50 with dulux emulsion and then painted with two coats of valspar bathroom paint. The frog tape was on for a matter of minutes to create a good sealent line and took off a good 70% of the paint with it. I'm quite concerned about the risk of ignoring an underlying problem, especially in a bathroom. I was thinking I'd sand/feather the edges and repaint and then leave well alone. And then probably avoid valspar paint in future
