Patio wall next door's extens

Next door have extended out and the photos show how it is and you can see the fence has not been replaced yet.
There are two options to be completed by the builder:

  1. Replace fencing on the boundary
    or
  2. fence the gap and have the wall as is.

We are not sure what's best. one of us assume fill the gap and the other that it would look unfinished without the full fence.

We have not had this issue anywhere before and would welcome advice, please.
