New windows for mock tudor house
Comments (3)We had diamond leaded on the bays of our 30s semi. I hated them and was so glad when we could finally afford to replace them. We also ensured the new windows had the correct number and size of panes, as the ones we removed weren't the same as the originals (two panes rather than three across the front) and looked completely wrong. It felt like prison bars had been removed. If you don't like diamond leaded I would get rid and get something else that goes with the house - I think the advice above is good. Think about frame colour, width and number of panes....See MoreReplacement double glazing to match mock Tudor
Comments (8)@Jonathan - The frames and door are nearly 25 years old, and so are coming up to being ready to be replaced (almost all other houses on the estate have moved over to uPVC). @Sven I'm not mad on the door colour. It's previously been black (a little boring) and pillar box red (which I preferred). @Man about the House, thanks for the picture. I guess I need to do some mock-ups. Are there any free/straightforward to use tools that people on here use for that sort of thing (i.e. not Photoshop). I think I see what you're saying about keeping the timber matching the bricks, but would like to see it in grey too (maybe we could paint the bricks to match?)...See MoreHelp paint colour for mock Tudor house!
Comments (2)Do you have any pictures? Honestly, for a mock Tudor I always think of darker colours but more of a black, anthracite would be perfect from what I can tell. With the matt finish and the lighter hue it gives the more modern look for sure. Definitely would love to see some pictures though! If you'd like a free design and quote for the windows too please feel free to get in touch!...See MoreIdeas for painting exterior of mock Tudor house
Comments (24)Yes I think we've all got one of those groups, Sonia. Like to post pictures of dog poo and badly parked cars on a daily basis!! Been to Hitchin myself some years ago and seem to remember a nice place called The Sun Inn and a fabulous farmers market. Sorry to hijack original post. Happen to like the softer grey wood myself as well. Perhaps it would be useful to get a mock up done before you make your mind up....See MoreCarolina
