Anthracite grey Windows or not?
Comments (29)Hi, We manufactured timber windows which we painted in Anthracite grey for a house in Bognor:Or possibly a lighter grey, which is called Hardwick white, may look good: Both of these house were rendered white which compliments the window colour. Comments (10)Minipie, this is a tricky one. The greeney grey would look lovely with your yellow brick or even a more yellowed grey, there are lots of houses where I live with yellow brick and ones with warm grey pale windows look lovely. I recently replaced all of mine and had the same colour inside and out. I went for a warm green grey (F&B Light Grey 17) and the same inside. As most of my neutrals inside are from the same 'hue' family it was ok, but if they had been 'bluer' as you say it could have been tricky. If the tones are the same (how light or dark) and the colours mismatched it is very noticeable. If the colours are different then the tones need to be a bit different too. I would be inclined to make a selection that works with your inside colours first and then actually paint the samples on the outside to see if they work....See MoreReplacement windows uPVC, aluminium; white, grey or anthracite??
Comments (9)Thanks all. That's really helpful. @bchillman5 - love your flush windows, and the astragal lines - what manufacturer are they? And you are right - it is a very similar look house, and I agree that the paler grey suits the stone better. So thank you - I am very grateful for this image. Very happy to have found this resource... now to move onto my interior design dilemmas!!...See MoreWhite or Anthracite on interior of windows
Comments (6)I had the same dilemma. I went with aluminium for the the front door and downstairs at the back. Upvc for the regular windows. Anthracite inside and out. If you ensure that the manufacturers use the same RAL number I think the match is quite acceptable. Bear in mind the physical properties of the two materials. Aluminium is stronger and enables the use of slimmer profiles, so use it for the larger openings. To match with the aluminium try simple upvc window designs, avoiding top lights for example. Another tip when replacing windows consider altering their size. It is comparatively easy to make them deeper but much more complicated/expensive to widen them. As far as the inside colour is concerned you either think white goes with everything or is just boring. I can't imagine wanting to paint my walls a colour that didn't go with anthracite....See MoreDaisy England
