Garden Dilemma, Help Please!

Hello everyone,
We have recently finished an extension to our house which doubled it in size, and done a lot of work to the interiors of our house. Unfortunately this has left the outside looking very messy and disfunctional, if anyone has any ideas of how to change the garden or what else needs to happen.. the budget is very tight.

The pictures I have attached show the garden as it is.. where the huge gap in the fence is is where we had to pull out four or five huge trees.. she was worried they would fall on her shed.
The summer house is mainly for the kids with a few odds and ends left in there.. we recently just painted this dark grey.
And the pool is also temporarily there - it looks terrible and makes the grass look terrible for the rest of the year.
There is also an odd bit of garden beyond the fence which used to have chickens in... this is now totally overgrown and would appreciate ideas.
Where the rubble is we hope to put a nice patio here or if anyone has any ideas of something that would look better or cost less would be very glad to hear from you all.

Sorry, I should have said that our neighbor asked us to take the trees out as she was worried they would fall on her shed... they were very large.
And she is in the process of putting the fence back up.

they have now finished putting up the fence..
we thought we couldn't carry on the hedge to cover it up a bit or maybe some smaller trees

The room looks very modern and spacious and having 2 colours in a kitchen is very popular. With regards to wall units (see image below where shelves have been used) & fridge/freezers, it really is down to personal preference but American fridge/freezers are very bulky, but they do give a lot of fridge space, although the freezers do tend to be a little small. Shelving can look nice and it could keep costs down. Bifold doors curtain/blinds dilemma - please help!

As a professional in the industry and also have a 360cm bifold door at home i know the issue all too well. It all comes down to the budget you want to spend. I would have to recommend use a curtain track so you can get good support all the way across the track and know that it is sturdy to hold a heavyish pair of curtains. You will have to go with a metal curtain track of some description as the plastic ones are just not substantial enough and will not work as smoothly as the aluminium ones. You will certainly be able to have a single curtain pull to one side with a good quality track. Now the main element of this is the heading style for these curtains. The modern wave headings give you a beautiful pleat that will always look beautiful. Any of our metal tracks would be substantial enough and some of them can be upgraded to 60mm or 80mm wave heading. https://www.direct-fabrics.co.uk/curtain-tracks/metal Price for a 350cm would be around £40 upwards for medium domestic. going upto a heavy duty around £150 even more for silent gliss products. Fitting and installation with a qualified CSCS fitter would be around £120 maybe more depending on location. However to note you will have curtains right infront of a beautiful bifold door that will obstruct light coming in through the windows. I would suggest shaping the track outside the reveal but the book cases are in the way. Perfect Fit Blinds An alternative if you want the light to continue to come in is perfect fit blinds these work as frames that go out side the rubber seals of the window and allow a secondary frame to be mounted without any drilling into the window. This means you can fit them quickly and easily. A pleated blind would look incredible. A further option would be electric curtain tracks that fold to the left or right. These would be around £1000 Best option for cost Other options a light unlined hotel weight dimout pair of curtains these would be 95% blackout and you wouldnt see through them, with an eyelet heading top fixed inside the reveal with recess brackets. would work well. Really simple you would have 32 eyelets on a 4 width pair. not quite 100% fullness but would still look very clean. This would take up approx 16cm per side. If you take the 290 unit off the back run and island, I think that would be sufficient? As you've got kids I think a banquette seat would be ideal for family games, homework, crafts etc. Banquettes are around 60cm, table 90cm so that leaves 113cm which I think is more than sufficient both visually and practically as it's the same gap I have behind my kitchen table. Choose chairs that push under and consider the table legs carefully depending on the number of chairs wanted, pedestal tables often work. I would however take the sink off the island and maybe install a prep sink instead so the back run would be DW, sink, bin, induction hob (I'd integrate the oven personally). Is the shower room a must? It seems quite a trek to reach there with the number of doors unless there was a way to extend the 2nd front door forward and create access from the hall there. Also wondering if you'd considered removing the wall between snug and the old kitchen? It may make the area more useable rather than trying to fill the old kitchen

Main Bathroom Vanity/Laundry Unit Dilemma. Please HELP!

Hi everyone, I'm currently in the process of picking out a vanity and laundry unit for our main bathroom. Our apartment is quite small, so the only space available for a washer/dryer is in the main bathroom. However, I do not want to leave them 'exposed', rather I would like to place them in a unit (separate from the vanity). The dilemma is this, I really have no clue what laminate color/wood to choose! At first I was imagining a dark oak wood to warm up the room, however, our kitchen is already a dark wood shade (image attached) and I'm scared the bathroom will end up looking like a continuation of the kitchen (which I do not want). The tiles in the bathroom are StoneOne by Marca Corona in Ivory https://www.marcacorona.it/en/collections/marca-corona/stoneone/ (it's sort of a cement beige with greyish undertones). For bathroom fixtures we have the Crosswater MPRO in chrome, a 1.4 by .8 meter walk in shower (white shower tray), the Glide II Crosswater toilet in gloss white and the Cielo Shui rectangular washbasin also in gloss white. I'm aware that the vanity and the unit do not need to match perfectly, however, I would love some ideas :)

Hi Tacita,

I think that a decking at the level of the house floor that extends the house to the outdoors would look great just outside your pretty garden doors! It is also generally a cheaper than a patio.

I think that overall you should establish what you want to use the garden for: an area of lawn for the children will be important, but apart from that and an area for entertainment (deck or patio), what else would you like to use the garden for? growing fruit and veg? is there any features that you would like in the garden? water fetaure, pergola, arches etc? This will help you to determine what areas you need to have in the garden and the best way to divide it and give it shape and form.

You don't necessarily need to cover the new bit of fence. But perhaps having some ornamental trees that will give you year around interest such as a cherry tree or amelanchier would be a good idea.
