Has anyone heard of QZ Valiant quartz countertops... ?

I'm considering a qz valiant quartz countertop called "castillion"... looks like marble... but I am concerned about it not being a well known brand. Has anyone heard of this?

If you Google it then it shows as American based so perhaps that’s why you’ve not heard of them. I’ve not heard of them either. There are lots of options out there as alternatives though.

Marble patterns tend to be called Carerra Marble or similar names.

Hi

QZ Valiant is not a brand I am familiar with but Quartz counter tops are far more hard wearing than marble, for example. Quartz is more resilient to both scratches and bacteria, whereas marble is more heat resistant. One thing to bear in mind is that marble is porous so one spill of red wine and you'll be seeing it for years to come!

Thank you everyone. I was sorry to hear about GGDrive's misfortune with the flood but really enjoy hearing all your opinions. I had granite in my previous house and it looked gorgeous but from a practice point of view, it cooled the food quickly if you didn’t remember to use a cork placemat and is very cold if you lean on it to chat over a cup of coffee. It was also tricky to keep shiny, despite the special granite polish. Quartz is pretty too but both options cost more than I paid for the base and wall units. I saw a very impressive and economical Formica with oak woodblock finish, but was hoping to have a KARNDEAN wooden style floor and having read the discussions on HOUZZ, think the two would fight each other. The kitchen is small by USA standards and in a U shape with satin white units. Shall I A)emphasise a Spring Oak Karndean floor and find plain Formica (slate pic) or B)have the oak effect Formica worktops (see oak pic) and chose a slate tile effect Karndean floor? My husband installed the kitchen and we purchased the Pietra from Stamco and one of their fitters fitted it. He didn't do a wonderful job as he was rushing to finish it before he went on holiday. So I won't be going there again!. The white stains very easy, but comes out with bleach, and it hasn't scratched. The only thing you mustn't do with it is leave anything metal that rusts on it, the rust stains do not come out.

Any pale colour will stain if you treat it badly so even quartz which is considered to be hardwearing will need care so you don’t leave anything on it that has a strong colour (such as red wine spills etc). Beware- the inexpensive quartz seems to be more plain while the more veined patterns can be three times the price. If you are comfortable with a higher price range you might consider porcelain style products like Dekton where marble like products are widely available.

@Izzi Robinson - I had all the same issues as you. Today, I went to one of Cosentino's HQ warehouses in Spain - I am VERY lucky that I live close by, and my kitchen guy installs 70+ Cosentino counters a year, so we were able to go into the warehouse and see EVERY. SINGLE. SURFACE that they make! It was mind blowing. What I will say, is that it is super, super important to try and see them in an installation first. The online colours are off, and the tiny little sample pieces are not indicative of the total slab. I'll attach a photo of the slab of Dekton we decided on - it's called VERA and is very different in real life to online. Secondly - the white calacatta-alikes were a bit too fake for my liking BUT not all of them looked bad. The different textures made a difference to how realistic they were. I currently have a beige Silestone counter. I've had it for 8 years and it's brilliant. I've had no issues with staining (I use lemon juice and a tiny bit of bicarb of soda if it's bad - and have done that maybe 4 times total. I do use trivets and mats and put curry containers on mats first etc, to prevent staining, so I DO take care of it.) I'd highly recommend it as a countertop surface. The other bit of advice is make sure you have a great fabricator - again in Spain I am lucky as there are tons of excellent marmolistas but I do think it makes a difference and that's why some people say they've had issues. I saw Entzo this morning and it was really nice. Rem is also not as bad in real life as you think, but it depends on your tolerance level for knowing it's not 'real'! Here's my Vera. :) It's even warmer in real life than this photo - and this photo is warmer than the official sample on the Dekton page.

sicinterior.design ... the poster said the worktop was quartz and looked like marble. Not that it was marble.

There are many quartz counter top suppliers out there with lots of super options!
