Help with living dining room layout please!
Comments (14)Ok it seems I got cut off due to the smiley face I put! Grr.. Basically what I was saying is that we were thinking about farmhouse/cottage style table (small but extending), but I'm worried that it may be too much.. Also we rushed and bought retro industrial type of lampshades (same for both areas), and also our floor isn't wood colour, but it's white/grey kind of washed wood, so I'm afraid the whole look wouldn't look so good with the white floor! What do I do?? Also my hubby didn't like it as much as I did...and I was so hopeful that we finally got a perfect middle.. Anyway, if I swap something for something maybe that would help..? All I want is a nice and cosy, elegant and sophisticated but also comfy and relaxing home..what a headache :) But thank you so so much for every single idea, this really helps to think!!! Thank you!x...See MoreLarge sideboard in living room
Comments (5)Normally I'd never suggest removing a fireplace to make way for a tv but in your case the fireplace doesn't really bring much to the space. I think this is party because its on a flat wall without chimney breast and also the scale of it looks rather lost. If you were to buy a lovely vintage sideboard and go to town with some artwork/plants/accessories then this will impart far more character than the current set up. Swoon Editions does some really nice new options or you can check out ebay for vintage teak options (my sister in law has a stunning one called 'circles' by Nathan, shown in the last image, with their TV on top and it looks great). https://www.swooneditions.com/russell-rosewood-mid-century-media-unit https://www.swooneditions.com/noah-wooden-and-grey-mid-century-sideboard https://www.swooneditions.com/austin-wooden-iron-contemporary-media-unit...See MoreFloor Plan and Garden layout advise please.
Comments (5)Hi Jonathan, thanks so much for your reply. We will be removing some of the hedge at the front to allow for the new porch. The larger garden gets the sun rise and all day (south-east facing). There is no option to park in front of the existing front door. We have a pretty good view from our living room and smaller garden (South-West facing) and we see the sunset from our living room. The plan is to cut back the overgrowth from the field rear of us to open the view up in the larger garden too. I've attached some more photo's to hopefully show a bit more. The current front door is below the dormer window. Have you any thoughts on the internal layout changes? Thanks again, Claire and Danny....See Morehelp with living room/dining room layout and furniture
Comments (3)Hi there, Looking at your layout and depending on how many people will be seated I suggest looking into corner shaped sofa along the long wall closer to the window so that you can set up a TV on the opposite wall and get the most out of your space. However it does mean you may lose a little bit of the light from the doors. Alternatively you could have a 2 seater sofa and an armchair where your cupboards are to hide it a bit and still give you plenty of seating. For your dining table I suggest to keep this closer to the kitchen. From the floor plan I don't think you will be able to have a very large table so if you do plan to entertain I suggest to buy an extending dining table. I am not sure how far the kitchen comes, if it is beyond the door on the opposite wall? Then I would suggest to going for a two seater sofa instead. Hope this helps, thanks Rukmini...See MoreHU-98576844
