Front exterior face lift

We have got plans to alter the house. I'm looking for ideas to give the outside a facelift. We are in the middle of a village where the houses are varied but mostly country style. A few of them are clad with stone. We have permission to extend the front of the house to square it off under the cladding.
It will have three windows across the front and no door. There is a mixture of '60s brick and a poorly matched mod brick added more recently to work with. What do we put in the place of the tacky plastic cladding? Render with a few stone slips? Wavy egde oak boards? Or render the whole front section? Any other ideas? What colour window frames/ soffits etc would you put with that brick?
