Help! How would you furnish this living room.
Comments (6)If you're adding bar stools would it not be tempting to have the tv where they do so you can view from both rooms?! Rather than the fire, have the tv over a narrow console which is a bit more typical for a Hallway. You could paint the wall a shade of grey (keep others light) to disguise the tv and add accessories. A projector could potentially be an option on that wall (??). Or slightly more unusual options...I can't see what the breakfast bar is like but maybe something bespoke built against the dishwasher or even wrapping round the pillar! Or go with your option with a small sofa, you could then add a console behind to create a hallway to the bedroom but it leaves it quite tight for a coffee table and tv unit (plus back of tv exposed if you use the balconŷ). It would be good if you had exact measurements from wall to pillar etc...See MoreHow do I design this kitchen/dining/living room space?
Comments (6)Hi Tas! If it was me then I wouldn't continue the kitchen back along that wall and instead create more of a galley kitchen with an island facing towards the back and a bank of full height units against the wall. This would make the rest of the room more useable by keeping the kitchen more compact and with as much storage as you need. In open plan spaces like that I find that one of the things that people find most difficult is deciding where to put the TV! I've had a lot of people come to me after they've had that kind of open plan design, but it doesn't really work for what they want to use it for. If you're planning to have a TV in there then this might be a helpful video for you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lUZaehO7Xfk Best of luck with your project, Jane, i-architect.co.uk...See MoreHow to set up furniture in an open plan living room inc. 65” wall tv?
Comments (2)We are buying new furniture to fit the layout but struggling to decide how to set up without wasting space, the pillars in the middle of the room make it tricky. We have a 65“ tv we’d like to wall mount with a big comfy sofa in front of it somewhere....See MoreHow would you make the most of this kitchen/living space?
Comments (4)Thanks Jonathan, I can see how well this design works, however it takes away the garage which we need and we want to try to avoid knocking around the shower room and utility as we want to do as little work (and spend as little of our budget) as possible. We’re trying to see if we can get a decent kitchen/dining are just from the kitchen/living area when it is knocked through....See MoreSophie Spooner
