Comments (0)We have recently moved to a new build house with white walls throughout and north facing lounge. We have a beige carpet and heavy oak furniture just purchased. Our suite is brown therefore too much beige and brown going on and looks bland. However I have ordered pink/green floral curtains on ivory background for the large window/patio door and have decided to change the suite to two new sofas (much to our daughters delight!!!) my problem is what colour suite, seen light silver grey? and advice on wall colour. Any help would be appreciate before I make another purchase disaster. Thanks...See MoreSmall, north facing lounge - help please!
Comments (5)You need to look at this from a different point of view... north facing light is very cold and you need to use mid tones with warm. Instead of have pale walls and dark furniture, reverse it to have mid tone warm grey on the walls and light/colourful tones on furnishings. You would need to put a cream throw on your sofa to achieve this, plus paint the ceiling in a warm white or cream. Also artificial lighting is key in a warm white, a cheap option is to put at least three table/floor lamps in the corners of the room. A cream or light colourful rug will add interest, plus I suggest colourful accents in three warm/muted colours e.g. duck egg, orange, yellow. Red or yellow can look very tatty in north facing light....See MoreElephants Breath Living Room

If you wanted the feature wall to be a touch more grey you could use Purbeck Stone for the feature wall with Skimming Stone for the rest of the walls. For all wood work I'd suggest using the feature (darker) wall colour. Hope that helps! PB...See MoreElly Jones
