What's wrong with my Euphorbia succulent?

I've got a few of these euphorbia succulents. Normally they're really hardy - I've even managed to take cuttings and propagate new plants from them.

Recently, this one took a car trip to my new house, wrapped in cardboard.

It's now showing this strange surface scarring. The brown patches are changing colour over the days, parts of it are looking almost white/transparent now.

Maybe it got rattled in the car journey? Maybe the it didn't like the lack of light when wrapped up? Could it be something completely different like a fungus?

Has anybody experienced this before? Any idea what the prognosis is? Will it heal, or am I better off chopping off the healthy top and re-growing from there?

Can I do anything to help it out?

While white fencing isn't for me in a back garden, I have seen loads of pics here on Houzz with white fences and, although they mostly seem to be over in the USA (let's face it - they tend to have better daylight in parts of North America than we do in the UK) I do like the look of it, though. I especially like the whitewash appearance if you're going for a Cottage Garden as it adds a weathered appeal. I went for black in my garden which looks pretty stylish, especially with the greens and whites in front of it. I used to live in a house with a roof terrace and we were advised at the time to not use white on the inside of the parapet walls as it would glare too much. The chosen option for the wall was pale grey (before it was fashionable) and it worked really well. For this reason, I wouldn't have gone for white fence or white furniture.

It wants to live! I’ve just bought a cute succulent from Sainsbury’s and then read up a bit more (wrong way round I know!) but gleaned that they need bright sunlight (south facing area is best) and only need watering every 2-3 weeks. The info I read suggests that you water until the water comes out of the bottom of the pot, and then throw the water away. They hate sitting in water. Also never plant in a pot without holes at the bottom, so a pot within a pot is best, if that makes sense! Considering they like dry arid conditions it is no wonder they are difficult to grow in the UK. I hope it survives. Here’s my new one:

Like Cath I thought what? as I only know euphorbia as the Spurge family so we learn something new every day. High five.
