Carpets throughout the house

Hi everyone,

I have recently decorated a few rooms in my house. I am a single dad, two children 12 and 10.

I was hoping I could get a bit of advice about the colour of carpets i should get with the colours I have gone with.

Andy help and advice will be greatly appreciated.

I will post pictures of the dfifferent rooms.

Blimey where do I start?!? My outgoing car was the biggest but that's for another forum.. tom Dixon type copper ball pendant - just shone a small gold beam of light into the table and nothing else. Long gold-ish sheen curtains across an entire wall covering the back patio doors - made the room look tiny, lasted a few months White high gloss coffee table - a small lounge and I realised I should have bought a clear glass one (which I now have) My white Ivory carpets throughout my house - looks good in the magazines but carpet cleaner is out every 2 months. A big wall mural type wall paper of the japanese wave in the spare room - looked rubbish I'm already a bit bored of my George Nelson eye clock A few art prints which looked awful in the flesh, too big I'm about to get rid of my large 80s swatch maxi wall clock, just looks too OTT Pretty much every plant I ever put in the back garden, I can't leave a garden centre without buying a plant! All my plumen pendants (qty 4) which are slowly but surely going!! They are too low and even I head butt them, I'm only 5'6". They look rubbish if hung too high up with a short drop! Various small lamps and fixtures along the way. Not to mention the useless kitchen gadgets. I'm so indecisive, thank god for ebay, which is where most of it ends up!

Want a modern living room but have a brown carpet - any ideas?

Thank you all! I was looking at a light grey fabric couch similar to the one pictured above so it's comforting to know that it won't clash too much. In an ideal world I would just rip out the carpet as jones1987 suggested, but it's the same carpet throughout the house so I would like to avoid it. Does anyone have any opinion on what would be best for the skirting? I'm torn between a crisp white, stripping back to the natural light wood and having a light wooden coffee table as well to keep the room bright and to draw up from the brown, or just to embrace the brown and paint the skirting a dark colour, bit like that pictured below.

There's nothing he likes more than a floor plan… loves them, so he does! Chablis vs Cannes. Aesthetically? Phewee… that's like asking which is your favourite child. We don't think an answer exists. They are both, honestly and truly magnificent beasts and we'd be very happy to have either in our homes. Sorry Simone but we couldn't say and it really, truly boils down to personal taste. Young family, eh. Hhmm… well, ITC state Cannes to be "durable and stain resistant." No mention about Chablis, whether it is or isn't. Click here to view their Cannes page and here to view their Chablis page. As we get into the details we can establish this for you. If stain resistant, then you would need to react quickly on any spills/drops. Each contaminant will have different ways to be treated. If liquid, always take a damp cloth and "dab" excess liquids away, never rub. Then, if a stain remains, it could be possible to remove with some of our Stain Remover although it would be a good idea to test the spray on off cuts to see if it has an adverse effect on the colour and pile. Probably won't but you ought to test beforehand… forewarned is forearmed! Threatening the youngsters with four weeks exile in the garage with nothing but lentil soup may be a good initial deterrent. Spillage and potential staining is one of life's greatest unanswered questions. Quick reaction, no matter what the yarn, is always the best piece of advice you can receive. Jump on a spill quickly and you are in with a chance of removing. Leave it over several hours and you are playing Russian Roulette with your beautiful carpet. Red wine, beetroot, ink, blood and make up are probably the greatest offenders. If you can work out a way of banishing these from your carpeted areas you'll be rid of this tyranny! Thanks, all. I ended up showing the father of the business owner, who is an employee, for 30+ minutes. I really fought my corner and they correct most of the mistakes and reinstalled the kitchen vinyl. Throughout, the tradesperson was extremely rude and condescending to me. I sent my husband to the house this morning to let the tradespeople in to complete the work in the kitchen. Apparently, they explained their work in detail to him and treated him with respect. I went over when they had finished their job and was met with such disrespect. "We explained to your husband what we did. If you are not happy with it, he can get clear silicone and seal the vinyl." "I am sure he has reported back to you. Are you happy now? Are you sure? Really?" I could you let it go at this point. In my home country, I'd report them to the chamber of commerce for such behaviour, which is clearly based on sexism. I've done some research but it is not clear to me if I can report the company. Would any of you know, or would you pursue this? Thank you again for your help! 🙏
