Advice on sealing new walls

If a new houses walls were not sealed and printed on using standard dulux would that be why now I am trying to paint on top of that paint it seems to be not covering well? As in I am needed multiple coats just to cover magnolia with white? Should I use some kind of sealant as a primer to then hopefully need only one coat of paint?Many thanks

Covering a darker colour (even if it’s magnolia) will need several coats, but as ray suggested, a primer is a good idea,

Hi Lisamarie. Do you have the measurements? It may hopefully encourage people to help rather than guesstimating based on the doors and kitchen cabinets. How will the internal corridor work in the garage? Will there just be a door knocked through from the drive? Is extending the flat roof extension an option although you may need to do something with the pitch of the roof? Have you had a quote for moving the boiler and electrics? How much storage do you need left in the garage? Can the stairs be moved?

Hi, you can get professionals to clean and seal your stone. You can also do it yourself, but I'd presume the professional clean would be better. I've sealed my own stone tiles and it was very easy. A simple wipe on then off process. From what I understand your stone is uneven surface. From that I think you can't put flooring on top without leveling it out. And considering it doesn't cover all the floor, I'd remove it if you were planning a new floor finish. But if your not fussed for the floor, and watching your budget, and plan to replace it at some stage, I'd get my DIY on with some stone cleaner and sealer.

Polyvine's Decorators Varnish should do this for you. It's available in 'dead flat' finish, which would give the impression that your plaster doesn't have a coating on it. Bear in mind that whatever coating you put on it, it will likely darken the colour of it. Wow that looks amazing and such an improvement. I bet you’re really pleased with it. We’ve all been following your progress and it sure looks good. The floor looks great too. Now I would say yes, paint that long wall in De Nimes too, it goes so well with your leather sofa. You can then add art, shelving or both. Well done.
