what colour front door?
Hi. I’m having an extension and will need a side door in composite . My front door is rotten and not very secure so I’m going to replace my front door with a composite one as well. The problem is that what colour?? Everyone around me has replaced with composite black or dark grey with 2 long glass panels with patterned glass (which is what my husband wants). I don’t think either go especially with the large brown timber at the front. But what colour?? I think style wise I’m going to do a cottage style with a single window , no letterbox and no knocker , just door handle - to keep it simple ( I have a post box on the wall and door bell) the render is also going to be redone in a smooth type in a ‘off white’ if that exists- just not bright white. Any thought ??

Comments (10)No problem. Sounds like you have some ideas to look at. Contemporary would work well and you can easily add a few industrial twists where blank and greys are concerned!! If you do consider changing things like French doors or windows as well.. I would ask you to consider having 3D visual model drawn up to show you the options. I find this helps many of my clients with exterior decisions. I would never buy a car or even a lipstick without seeing it first so this package allows you to see expensive items like windows and doors before committing. I have attached an example. 3 years agoI agree an off white such as a 'copy' of Farrow and Ball's Pointing would be good for the render colour. I think a really deep olive green for the door would be worth looking at as it would work with the slate roof tiles.
