wild flower help

hey, we planted an instant wild flower garden in March and had some fantastic growth. the last lot was the tall variety but the cats and foxes have trodden it down and it now looks horrendous. is it OK to trim it all back down now? I don't want to stop any more growth for this year if there are still plants to come and also do not want it to impact next year's growth. any help will be much appreciated!
