What colour should we paint our small, modern open plan kitchen living
Comments (51)Wow yes lots to waken up to and I'm so grateful for the help! Thanks so much! I tried mforr to find one o those room colouring things for a shop here in the uk and whilt you can do it with dulux paint brand, it didnt seem to like my iPad so need to get onto it on my laptop! Having slept on it I'm thinking I like the idea of doing the kitchen only in colour, and then having highlights of the colour in the LR with cushions perhaps. We considered curtains too but I'm not sure if it would crowd the LR. We are sure that the coffee table is too big also, but I love it (it has a glass top and we can present things in the drawer below). We also have no dining table so this is our only space for setting out food! I'm still liking the green, but the yellow goes well too. We have a tea/coffee jars on our kitchen work top (might be just visible in the pictures) which are green yellow and grey, so if I bring these along to the DIY shop they could colour match those for me. (Along with the list you sent me too mforr!) I will def be back on to show you all the results!! :)...See MoreHow to open up downstairs space
Comments (5)It is very wise to think of future that far. Your house will have bigger chance to be sold on better price when you have fairly big functioning kitchen. It is one of the main areas in the house. There should be no problem to convert only half of the garage. In fact, it is pretty simple work for professional. As for the garage, not all houses have garage and people still happily buy houses as long you have enough parking space near house. If you want to get more precise market information, visit estate agency in your location and talk to them. They will give you a better idea how + kitchen and -garage will effect price and interest to your property....See MoreHow to make an open kitchen/diner cosy?
Comments (13)Will you have a sofa in the area where the ironing board now is? If so, I'd have a rug there and one behind the island, depending on whether you or not you wear shoes or slippers inside. I always wear socks indoors (no shoes or slippers) and have a tiled floor without underfloor heating in the kitchen. So I like standing on a rug whilst cooking. Softer and warmer. But you may find you don't need that, in which case I'd keep the floor bare between fridge and island and perhaps use a rug under the dining table....See Morepaint for open plan living room utility and kitchen diner !
Comments (23)Hi Sophia, I think the floor is the most important thing as it won't be changed once it's down, paint it relatively cheap. The best advice I could give (based on my recent experience) is that if you put a cool grey floor in a room that's filled with sun it's fine. If you do the same in a North facing room it can feel gloomy and cold and then you have the option of taking well known advice for a North facing room which is 'opt for warm, creamier colours for the walls'. Well this doesn't work too well with grey floors, it can look sickly. Therefore, the floor is a consideration at this point. There is a gorgeous tile from Topps called 'Sculpt' in beige which is the very same colour as warm concrete and it has an amazing look to it. General advice is to avoid cold greys in North faicng rooms and opt for yellow based neutrals. I have used Skimming Stone in my kitchen (North facing) but it's got lots of natural wood. Off white and Shaded White are both recommended for North facing rooms. https://www.madaboutthehouse.com/choosing-the-right-shade-of-grey-paint/...See MoreCarolina
