kitchen colour ideas

we created our new kitchen/diner last year and in order to finish it we just painted it white. now looking for a change but not sure where to start. any ideas for wall colours and which walls to paint or keep white?

If you are thinking you need some colour, try adding color with things like tea towels, hand towels, fruit bowls, a bright clock first. The black and white are striking together but I can understand that it would start to lack interest after a while. Your color could be in one color, or tones of that color, or it could be primary colors for a very bold addition. These elements would be easy to change and might help you decide on wall color as you would be able to see how a color works across the light of the day.

I like it as it is. For a colour input add artwork etc.

Hi Veronika. I do think this style of kitchen would suit your room or a pared back version anyway. Rockett st George would be the place for accessories, in fact the disco art is from there as is I think the bar trolley! I like the other design too which would look somewhat different once accessorised. I'm struggling to read the measurements but it looks as if you have the minimum clearance for the island? I've attached this article which may be of some help. Although I like islands that morph into tables I wonder I find the room is wide enough for it to be practical? I think I agree with Carolina and would separate it and add a banquette seat (try angel and boho). Hi so this is what I had in mind. Although it ideal I think it would be too expensive for now to remove that lone cupboard. So an idea would be; 1. Paint the walls white 2. Paint the cupboards pale grey: http://www.farrow-ball.com/paint/Paint-For-Kitchen-Cupboards 3. Get nice oak laminate floor from Homebase or B&Q 4. It may cost between £200 and £300 to fit the floor with underlay. But totally worth it. 5. Cheap grey sofa (maybe not corner sofa) or second hand sofa, max those dimensions on the plan. I bought two cheap ones from Homebase for our back room and they're totally fine. 6. Farmhouse table with bench / Eiffel chairs 7. Tv bench and side table from ikea 8. I’m with Sonia. For me the tiles date the kitchen and the worktops are probably showing their age. If you can afford to replace them it will transform the kitchen and might well cost the same as professionally refinishing the doors. And I also agree that painting cabinets is best left to professionals but you could change the wall colour to make the room feel different. If it were my room I would try to find a Quartz worktop (try to find a warm colour as very white could make the cabinets look old) and I might well have a worktop splashback instead of tiles. And then you have a neutral kitchen and can apply almost any wall colour. Choosing this is easy- you either choose a colour consistent with other colour choices in the house or you pick a colour from the rug. I like Daisy suggestion of a soft green wall colour (but only if the blue tiles have been replaced.)
