should a colour scheme continue from hallway into living space?
Comments (2)I find that if you are using different colors in different rooms, that it helps if they are harmonious. Using a color wheel- many available online- find colors that are complementary or analogous to each other. Also using the same tones in different colors helps. For example, don't use a pale pastel in one room adjacent to a bold color....See MoreHall radiators in Anthracite or white?
Comments (16)Thank you again for all these thoughts. The windows used to have Roman blinds with a pair of dress curtains framing the door. I think we'll probably do the same again. As to the other wall for a rad, certainly something to think about. At the moment it's designated has having a console table as its where the phone/broadband services are. The wall above will have a wall light, mirror and the central heating stat. It's the only wall for a table. I do like the grey/pale gold colour scheme with a bit of teal. We also need to recarpet, recurtain and decorate the dining room so I'm thinking about running the same carpet as the hall into the dining room and dialling up the furnishings in the dining room too echo the hall colour scheme. We've got a very traditional light fitting in there and Victorian-style mahogany furniture which can't be changed but could be reupholstered. The jury is still out on the rads I'm afraid. I agree it would look very busy on that wall. Oddly, although it's the front door of the house it's rarely used as 99% of visitors come in the side door of the house into the utility room. What's that all about?...See MoreHall way and landing colour scheme
Comments (31)Noticing that the replacement doors are modern in design and the stairs are not. A firm called stair box, they are on the net, have sections of oak which you can clad old fashioned stair newel posts so they match modern doors and decor. They even have the caps and oak veneer for the stringers....See MoreHallway and staircase colour schemes?
Comments (12)Controversial but I actually like the green. I might be tempted to go for a slightly lighter sage shade but it’s fresh. I agree with Colourhappy that a rich gold would look amazing. I have to say that the greige colour palette which is typified by Elephant’s Breath is going to date very quickly and won’t be very welcoming. I think there is a strong sense of people moving away from greys and navy’s and opting for colours that bring joy and warmth. Greens, golds, terracotta and pinks. It doesn’t need to jar and can actually be very sophisticated. Have you looked at Setting Plaster by F&B. It’s a very subtle pink that works as a great backdrop for art and will look lovely with the mahogany tone of the staircase....See MoreE D
