how to dress a Victorian Bay Window - living room

Hi - I know this question has been asked a million times but I’m looking for advice about how to dress our Victorian bay window. We are going to be decorating relatively soon but thought we had a big damp problem in the bay. The lovely specialist has just been round to say that it’s actually bone dry, and the problem is that our curtains are too long and thick and blocking air flow! Whilst I’m relieved not to have to spend thousands fixing a non existing problem, I’m now in a quandary as to what to do with the window! I actually quite like long curtains! Also the room has been knocked through with the middle room to create one big space with French doors at the opposite end - so long curtains seem to work both ends. The damp specialist said to have curtains that were just a couple of inches lower than the sill - but that seems like a funny length to me??
