Front door advice? Would a timber door suit our mock tudor house?
Comments (15)I agree with darker - I think the reason the light door PP posted looks good is the style. A light colour with a modern design wouldn't have the same effect. This a Cromwellian house in Herefordshire fitted with one of our stainless steel Letterplates and the door colour looks great with the black and white. The porch timber is paler than the rest of the house timbers (you can just see the black window frame to the right) and is a modern addition but as it's still a shade of grey it all works well together. Have fun deciding!...See MoreFront porch and door advice
Comments (15)Morning! If it was me personally I would go for a new modern front door with two sidelights either side to let light into your home. something like the attached in a pebble grey or anthracite grey. Matching your garage door colour always makes such a huge impact it is definitely worth thinking about! I think your fascia, soffit, guttering and cladding suit the property in the colour you have them. If you have the budget the suggestion previously of some updated windows on the bays and at the front could be nice, Origin now have some high side hung sashes which would mean you wouldn't need the extra pane at the bottom of the bays and could get rid of the top openers. I am happy to help with any other ideas :) Hannah...See MoreVictorian front door/porch restoration
Comments (12)Thanks everyone for your input. I’ve not been able to figure out if I can respond directly to specific comments. Yes, I agree that the neighbour’s fan is out of proportion (too reduced in size) and so they do look odd next to each other. I highly doubt that the original tiles are anywhere to be found - we would need to reinstate these. Thank you for the kind offer to see what your neighbours have done. At this point I think it’s a case of getting a quote and taking it from there. Depending on the cost it may be hard to justify given it’s purely aesthetical - probably the reason that I can’t find any examples!...See MoreFront door advice please
Comments (13)Honestly...... do you keep the porch doors shut like that? If so, it's going to affect how any door behind looks. You could have the most beautiful door, but with those porch doors closed over the front it's not going to look the same. A plain, all glass door would be best. If you do keep the porch doors closed then I think you need something with no design/lines etc on it as together with the porch it's all a bit much....See MoreAngelina
