Kitchen flooring/heating/units advice

We are currently in the middle of a self build.
Bit of background...We are going for Karndean flooring and air source heating (underfloor)

The flooring company will not put our floor down until the heating has been on for 3 weeks despite our cement being down since Xmas.
The heating can't go on until the kitchen is in as it is attached to the mains at the kitchen sink.
And we want our floor to be wall to wall.
Its a bit of a viscous circle. Can anyone advise where to start? Do we just not have wall to wall flooring in and put the kitchen in but also don't want the kitchen in too early as we don't want the solid wood worktops to be scratched.

Any advice would be great.

The flooring company could check the moisture content to see if its ready for the new floor with a test meter. But if you're having solid wood worktops and if there is a lot of moisture then I wouldn't want to have these installed, also if you're new kitchen doors are solid timber these will also be affected by a damp atmosphere/high humidity. I think you really need to get some heating/dehumifier on before you start.

Agree with the above post. Moisture could affect it.

Underfloor heating is lovely underfoot - but do remember - with all those shiny surfaces - You might find it could be quite echo'y !! Consider a rug in the soft seating area or dining area if you have one . It's a good idea to plan not just the kitchen - but the whole extended room - as one affects the other at the same time. Think about situations like if the kids and their friends are all on the stools at the island anyone wanting to get past will have to shimmy past you working at the sink - and if the DW is open this might be even more difficult ! In such a big space all of a sudden you can see things have got a bit tight ! Also, large drawers are great for storing stuff in - and although they cost more than cupboards - they are much easier to use and see what's in them etc consider having lots more of those ! We have electric under floor heating in our dining room extension which was completed in December, and we have Ecofloor it has worked very well although in reality it wasn't that cold when we had it on. Our room is about 17 sq mtrs openplan to the kitchen which is larger than the dining room but only has one quite small radiator. The kitchen previously to having the dining room extension added was quite cold but with extension was really toasty although the extension is very well insulated. We used 150w and got the UFH with thermostat for £1079 trade. We have Karndean flooring. Hope this helps.

I’m also not keen on copper - the trend has already aged. I’d go for something timeless like an aged brass - i”d also take inspiration from quality kitchen companies like Devol just to see what looks good! There’s loads of good places online to buy ironmongery - one has been mentioned above, but also check out Willow and Stone and also Jim Lawrence (both easy to google!).

Is it Wren by any chance that you will be using? I’m aware that they do not take into account extra contractors within their price. If it is Wren please be cautious. They have a Facebook page called Wren Kitchen Disasters. There are lots of people claiming their money back through Barclays under S75 as some people are on their 3rd kitchen and it is still not fit for purpose. The 0% finance seems to pull in customers. Barclays are up to their eyes in refunds. Just proceed with caution. Perhapls an independent local kitchen company could quote you a price. They are no more expensive than Wren in fact many times cheaper.
